Homer is up to something. I can feel it in my....ahhhh....you fellas know. I think he is gonna do one of two things. Either Get a serviceable dman to replace lily or blow us away with a blockbuster insane trade or trades. Nothing in the middle. I just have this feeling that we were in a rebuildish type mode, but with how they have played and where we are, we can add a few pieces and rip our way to the cup. |

With Holmgren's normal M.O., you very well could be right. But I'm hoping that Holmgren has some patience and plays for the future.

How is Jack Johnson a better offensive player then Carle? - MJL
better goal scorer, point shot. I see JJ as a better version of gogo. |

Better goal scorer, and shot I agree with. But better offensive player, not at all. Carle is the better overall offensive player, and better player overall. |

After this offseason, I have full faith in Homer doing what is best for the Flyers. |

another day another game the refs blow for us - 2Real
The refs did suck and did cost one goal, but the boys didn't show up until the third. The devils outplayed them the first two periods. Glad to see them fight back in the third, but what about the other two periods. |

I'm torn. I don't want him to mortgage the entire future of this club, however, we have certain vets(briere, kimmo, Jagr, pronger(when healthy), talbot) that just take it up another insane notch in the playoffs. Add a sniping winger and a nasty dman and we could be going for a parade come june. |

Always a possibility. But another possibility is that they give up quality youth to get those peices and don't get to go to a parade. I think this team's best chance for a parade is in the future. And I think that should be the mindset. Tweak it if you can, without giving up a key piece of the future. Unless there is youth coming back.

Indeed, I agree with you 100%. However, Snider will always be in win now. He wants another cup before he passes on. |

Speaking of sniping wingers, I can't think of a single pending UFA or one that is available. I have been racking my brain for a while. The lone one that is out there, we already traded away. |

I'd rather have jj than schenn and Kadri unless we know that carle is coming back. I think carle gets close to 5MM if he goes UFA. I'd rather have subban moving forward than any of them because he has the highest upside. |

@Sean_Leahy: #NHL announces $5,000 fine on Zac Rinaldo for his "dangerous trip" on Zach Parise & late hit on Jacob Josefson this afternoon.
So 2 $2500 hits. Sounds about right.

I guess that really depends on what kind of defenseman your looking for. I'm definitely not interested in an offensive defenseman who isn't good in his own end.
Carle is getting better and better. He's moving into being one of the better defenseman in the NHL. He's getting stronger and stronger. He's going to make some good money.

This organization is in a bizarre situation.
Homer- as we all know- jumped headfirst into rebuild mode. Traded 2 stars and 2 main pieces of the core for youth. And lots of it. He had rebuild on his mind. I feel safe saying he didn't expect this team to succeed in the way they have. I don't think he thought he was putting together a team like Columbus, but he definitely was getting younger and playing for the future.
But here we are. It's February 4th, and we're fighting not only for the top spot in the division, but the President's trophy isn't a stretch of a possibility.
So he's got 2 choices. Normally, a team like this goes for broke. Trade for that big name and go for a parade. But this team is way different than that. It's young and it has an extremely bright future. We all know that if Homer wants to get that defenseman that'll bring a parade, he'll deal some of that future. But it'll make it us a MAJOR contender.
BUT if he decides to "tweak" and make a "minor" deal for a depth dman, he doesn't put us in "prime position" for a Cup run. But the future remains bright.
So what does he do? I hope it's door number 2. But that's just me.
Plus, if Bryz plays like he can, this team COULD be a Cup contender even with that "tweak".
Sorry for the ramble, but it's a situation with so many possibilities
Intriguing, to say the least. I trust Homer to do what's best for this franchise though, definitely- especially after this offseason |

One for the hit on Josefson, and one for the slewfoot. Now he needs to watch it.

Seemed like he went for all 20 hits today, instead of picking the 3.
