I said early January that the Sens were going to collapse after the ASG...well they started a little earlier but I stand correct. I talked about it a couple times when they had their huge winning streak that they were gaining momentum from the fact that they were hosting the All-Star game (May sound stupid but it's true). Any team hosting it a certain year wants to play well and not come into the event being at the bottom of the standings. Carolina was contending for a playoff spot last season when they had the ASG and now they are in the basement. Also add that Spezza, Alfie and Anderson were playing really well who have all cooled off now and nobody else on the team is doing anything. |

I was sitting watching this game with a buddy and we were watching but pretty much talking the whole time so not hearing all the stats from the broadcast. When they said Reimer stopped 49 shots, we both said are they talking about the last two games combined? Because it sure didn't seem like Ottawa had any kind of sustained pressure to get 49 shots. We did a triple-take on that stat. That's the quietest, least threatening 49 shots I've ever seen in my life.
When Reimer is just square and playing angles, the puck hits him and drops dead in front of him and then he covers it up. When Reimer is not making spectacular saves, that's when he's really on, because he's just making a lot of the saves boring.
If this Leafs team wants to really keep rolling like this, being 6 points back of Boston for the division lead with 31 games to play, hey, I'll take it. |

Wow did Nuge ever just undress Lids. - robin_steele264
For realzies?? I lived in Edmonton 3 years ago and if they weren't talking about Penner being dealt for being lazy, it was dishing Gagner because he was turning out to be a "flop". The majority of this came from The Bear and work, but still...that was my assumption anyways. Glad to see he's turned it around...we had season tickets to the London Knights when Gagner, Kane and McRae were lighting up the league, kid can play! |

3 years ago? Gagner's second season?
I dont remember this.
Cloutier talks about trading him a lot. But Cloutier say lots of things. If you can get a good you dman you consider it, but then it just opens a hole at the #2 C spot.
He's young, let him grow with the rest of the kids.

Yea I didn't understand it either, seemed like they were trying to pull that trigger a little early. Oh well...hopefully they hang on to him and let him grow with the other kids...wish these players were there when I was there to watch...I got privied to the Penners and Stortini's of the world |

That guy is just plain burnt out.
They started him in the second game of a back-to-back and it was his 17th consecutive start. They can't ride him forever. |

I agree with this post as much as it's possible to agree with anything. Perfectly stated.
When Reimer's on his game, you hardly notice he's stopping pucks at all. Efficient, tidy, rock solid game. Ditto the last Penguins game.
He had shades of Eddie Belfour going on tonight. He saw everything and allowed incredibly few rebounds and second chances. |

To Be honest, i really hope they don't get rid of Gus.
Yeah he's not a "starter" but this guy is still somewhat new to the NHL, he is a solid back-up goaltender, and he wouldn't cost us anymore than 2 mil a year, i think he'd love to stay here, compete for the #1 and study under Francois some more, if he emerges as a #1 goaltender, we will be laughing in the future, if he stays consistent with his play as of late, we have a very SOLID back-up goaltender who can handle the media of Toronto. This is of course if we CANT bring in a goalie better than Reimer, but I'd love to roll with Reimer - Gus for a few more seasons, they keep improving. |

Leafs are one of only five teams in the Eastern Conference with a positive goal differential now, that's a good sign |

Yes, they are also the last of 11 teams to be in the +
Theyre at +9 in 11th place, Washington is next in line with -1
Looks good, i really hope we can land 6th seed, or Division win ( but that is REALLLY stretching it) |

49 shots, all of which were from horrible angles lol.
Reimer was a vacuum though. Zero rebounds. |

I don't think you'll see those two as a tandem for "years" considering the talent in the system at the Goalie position... |

Don't feel bad for Anderson, he hasn't done himself any favors lately by letting in shots from the red line.
A goalie I feel bad for is Carey Price. That guy has been one of the best goalies in the league this year playing for a team that is just horrifically bad. |
