The team defense is the problem. And when it comes to team defense, the forwards on this team as a whole, are not okay. - MJL
I agree, which is why I threw in the "scoring goals" part. But there's so many youngish forwards here, I'm hoping they can get better in all aspects of the game, including defense. |

It's the same situation but its just easier to blame the goalie. I could just as easily say Bob was terrible yesterday. Guys are whiffing on open nets and quite frankly the Rangers are a better team. One goalie doesn't make a whole team better. If that was so Buffalo would have won multiple rings with Hasek. These so-called backbreaker goals are coming off stupid plays. The same stupid plays teams like the Rangers and Bruins don't have a habit of making but the flyers do. - JoeRussomanno
there's no question a lot of the backbreaker goals come off of bad play in front of the goalies, so it's not just on the goalie. bob wasn't terrible yesterday. he was great early and then the wheels fell off the cart.
the goalie can cover up a lot of deficiencies in front of him. our #1 doesn't do it enough, or not until after he's given up a 1 or 2 poop goals when it's irrelevant at that point. you just CAN NOT give up goals like he did today and expect to win. |

The Flyers could send Panotchio to live with Bryz and I bet he'd be out of here in a heartbeat. - feelingkettle
It's not that hard to get a player to waive his NMC if the whole locker room wants his head on a (frank)ing stick

Odds on in the rangers favor, but the fans don't play the game the players do. A lot can happen between now and then. Hank gets hurt and the edge goes to the Flyers. - LJF
I agree that if he gets hurt that would wreck their season but they are smart enough to let Biron play enough to where Hank is well rested and less likely to get hurt, plus Biron is good enough to get the job done when they do put him in |

Yesterday Bob was left alone on an island, was there a worse non call in memory than when G was hacked down & they go the other way shorthanded???
ok, it's Bob vs Bryz again
In December he was given the "o it's not playoff time yet" ok it's only February - puckhead17
Wait so how do we get"bob was left on an Island yesterday" but today Bryz was terrible? No I'm sorry. The team effort was better today but that's like saying Arby's is better than McDonalds. |

He really struggled from late October to late November. Was not really noticeable during that period like he has been the past month or so. |

Agree. I think the Flyers' 18 skaters are much more talented than the Rangers' 18. But the Rangers are a better team. Not not sure that the Flyers skaters can compensate for the difference in the goalies. I want to say not to worry it's only February but the goalie scares me. - 2731color
Here is the biggest difference between the two teams. How many times were the Rangers outmanned on the puck? They support each other and the puck. They play as a 5 man unit, they keep the gap tight. Look at the Dubinsky goal. After you get past the turnover, look at the replay. Other then Couturier going over to the Flyers bench to change, which he shouldn't have done. The 2 other Flyer forwards are on the offensive side of the redline. How is that playing as a team? How is that supporting your teammates. Who has Dubinsky? Why is he that wide open? A bad turnover is made, but where is the support? I'll skip analyzing the defenseman play on that goal, because I have no idea what Bourdon was doing.

G needs to hit that open net for the goal. But I think Bryz needs to make the momentum changing saves and he hasn't all year.
The Flyers and rangers match well the difference is Hank. |

I think what you are saying pretty much sums it up. However I don't see Lundqvist having to clean up as big of a mess down the other end. Now I just hear Morganti who is really plummeting imo, say Bryz did not bail them out today. No that's incorrect. he did bail them out just they can't lean on him like they do and expect a win. I'm sorry but the guys in front have to play tight they don't and the goalie is left holding the bag. |

Bottom line the 3rd goal needed to be saved and even Clement said that. Its a save Bryz needs to have, no if and's or buts about it. That IMO was the turning point of the game |

I cant defend him today as I thought he gave up three goals that should of been stopped. The Flyers need more out of him if they want to have a chance to contend. When I look at this team I dont know if they have all the right pieces yet to be a contender. |

I remember it differently. He looked a bit lost to me during that span. I blame it on the linemates he was skating with. |

Still a team game. Obviously, goaltending on both sides was the single biggest factor. But you can also look at Giroux not finishing three point-blank chances (two when it was a one-goal game). You can look at the bad Carle turnover. You can look at Gaborik being left untouched after that big hit. You can look at power play pressure that didn't result in a goal.
But, yes, it starts with the goaltending. Lundqvist was sensational. Bryz let in two awful goals. |
