Joe, 2 of the goals, the save has to be made. That's all there is to it. I have no problem with the deflection goal or the Dubinsky goal. But many want to focus on just the goaltending. The inconsistent team defense is as big an issue as the goaltending. And there is no doubt in my mind that they are symbiotic. - MJL
poor starts and give-aways have cost them too.
It's hard not to focus on the goaltending after this game...it was glaringly bad |

Bill you have talked about it a lot and today was just another example of Bryz not making the momentum changing saves. Yes the G needs to bury that goal, but bottom line Bryz needs to maKe those saves. The Flyers pay him to do it. - LJF
And if Giroux is going to be talked about as being a Hart Trophy winner, he needs to bury that chance. And he needs to play better all around Hockey. Many a player including some recent players, have been killed for flubbing opportunities like that. |

It's a team game but when one player, the last line of defense, is consistently not doing his part everybody else is scrambling trying to make up for it. Ppl are out of position, they can't execute their game plan b/c they're chasing the game... Forwards are cheating up ice, dmen are trying to for stretch passes... it just snowballs. - flyguy12
I dont disagree at all. Your team has to play with confidence. You have to believe every person on the ice is going to do their job. If your responsible for yourself first (and trust your teammates) everything else will fall into place. |

Giroux's defensive game has been putrid. Every offensive star is going to have a slump once or twice a year but there's no excuse for some of his poor defensive play. |

I disagree that all those issues are the result of the goaltending. That's just an excuse for those players. And I'm going to start putting some responsibility on the Coaches also. The same issues aren't being corrected. If your going to play Laviolette's system, it can't be played that way.

Anyone who doesnt think that lose is solely on bryz shoulders is delusional. - mochoson
How bout the team scores more than 2 goals in a game against them? Sometime? |

I totally agree that two of the saves need to be made. I think that one by Gaborik was a misread on a pass not a confidence issue. As for the rest of them, I think when you roll the dice as much as the Flyers do, the goalie is only gonna save you so many times before you get burned and Bryzgalov made a bunch of good saves after bad mistakes. |

I think what you are saying pretty much sums it up. However I don't see Lundqvist having to clean up as big of a mess down the other end. Now I just hear Morganti who is really plummeting imo, say Bryz did not bail them out today. No that's incorrect. he did bail them out just they can't lean on him like they do and expect a win. I'm sorry but the guys in front have to play tight they don't and the goalie is left holding the bag. - JoeRussomanno
Whn you get that type of contract, your goalie should pull a win out of his ass every once in a damn while. D needs to play better. Sit Bourdon, trade for a d man |

I agree G needs to bury that. I just think Bryz overall hasn't made the momentum saves. He wasn't that bad today he just let in goals at bad times, which shifted the energy to the Rangers.
From a goalie that is paid that much I expect more. Yes it is a team game, but still he needs to start making those saves. |

He doesn't play the two way game like he did earlier in the year. Everybody on this team is too concerned with how he plays as far as points. Did Lava bump him off the top line near the end of the game? |

No... not every error or misplay is a direct chain reaction from the goaltending but the players are human... it's in the back of their mind. If everybody executes on the ice there are still going to be shots on goal. They have to be stopped. |

It was glaringly bad on 2 of the goals, and I know you just can't look beyond those 2 goals, but otherwise he was good. The team play this weekend was horrid. And overall just as bad if not worse then the goaltending.

I been saying it for over a year now that this defense is vastly overrated. Forwards play a big part in the team defense also but this defensive core has been making the same mistakes over and over. Their hockey sense can be questioned at times and their ability to make the smart play is down right terrible at times. |

Okay so 4 games out of 5 with only one goal allowed in one each isn't pulling one out of his ass? |

No argument that he has to make those saves. But I look at the big picture, and the entire game. Did Meszaros make the right choice defensively on the Gaborik goal? A lot of players have blood on their hands, not just Bryzgalov.

Enough of the Hart talk. His 2 way game needs much improvement |
