There is no confidence excuses at this point in the season. He is being paid like an "elite" goalie, he needs to be one. Phoenix played a more defensive style hockey but todays goals could of been stopped no matter what uniform he had on. Those are the saves that should be made and the reason(s) why Boucher and Leighton are no longer rostered on the big club. - stveshdy

Can you say he had as many quality chances in those games? - Richieattack18
No but he did have a fair amount of them. See you're missing the point. They are called chances for reason, meaning there is a high probability that the shooter scores. You keep giving the other team those high probabilities to score and a team like the Rangers will, regardless of who is in net. That's why Thomas gave up 5 when the Flyers played him last. Any goalie will cough up that many goals if you keep giving the other team that many chances. |

It was glaringly bad on 2 of the goals, and I know you just can't look beyond those 2 goals, but otherwise he was good. The team play this weekend was horrid. And overall just as bad if not worse then the goaltending. - MJL
Letting in two very weak goals sounds like a bad game to me. |

And when you get paid to stop "chances" You need to do it consistently |

It was a bad game. But was he bad the entire game, or only on those 2 plays. Did he do anything good in the game, make any good saves? Don't get the wrong impression. I'm not in any way excusing him for two of the goals. |

It's irrelevant how much money you throw at him. It's not going to change the odds on the number of quality chances the Flyers give up, which are way too many, from being tilted in their favor. If you think otherwise go down to the casinos and bet big money constantly on roulette and tell me how wealthy you end up. |

Goaltending is one of the key differences. But there are other differences that are equal to that. When the Flyers play the right way, like they did against Nashville, they are a very good team. When they play the way they did this weekend, they aren't. It comes down to team defense. It is as big an issue with this team as goaltending is. - MJL
Team defense has been spotty. The Pronger absence; other injuries and a lot of rookies is probably making things worse. I'm not saying that team defense is a bad discussion but today, if we got a solid American League effort from the goalie, we win this game and team defense isn't on the radar. |

Joe I usually agree with you. Today even with the turnovers and bad defense three of those goals should of been stopped (two at the very least). Those were very stoppable shots imo. |

Who is saying confidence? I'm not.
All I'm saying is you keep making mistakes sooner or later your goalie isn't gonna have an answer. It's okay for that to be applied when Bob is in net but when Bryz is in net he gets balls to the walls criticism. I'm sorry you can't have it both ways. - JoeRussomanno

Team defense would only not be on the radar if you chose to ignore it. Regardless of the outcome of the game today. How many goals did the Flyers score? I only have a problem with two of the goals the Rangers scored. So how do they win the game, if they got solid American League effort from the Goalie. Which is a bad characterization. |

The Rangers are committed defensively. There is a reason why they are one of the better teams in the league (especially goals against).

Like I said a couple pages back- its too easy to blame the netminder, when flicking between the game and xbox.
To sit here and not see two goalies get aired out by poop play two days in a row and not want to look closer at the problem is very telling.
No Bryzgalov did not have his best game but neither did the Flyers in failing to close on golden opportunities in the other end. Everyone swears up and down in this town if Carter(myself included) scores on that open netter in Game 6 of the SCF's that there's a cup parade at least a game 7. However now because we like the guys up front no one wants to hold them accountable. Just the same as no one wants to run a hate Bob campaign for yesterday. It's conveniant to blame one guy and not the other that's for damn sure. |

What confidence stuff? This had nothing to do with Bryz's confidence stuff today. |

What's the difference WHEN he was bad? If you let in several weak goals you had a bad game. I'm not happy with the way the Flyers played this game. Too many give-aways, poor team defense, but they were in the game, Bryz let in at least two very week goals at very bad times. I don't think it's out of the question to say he is the major contributor in this loss. |

It wasn't so much the bad goals that bothered me as much as it was the timing of the bad goals. They were back breakers. Bryz made some big saves as well, but those bad goals, the 5 seconds left one and the short side shot from the circle really hurt.
This epidemic of defensive breakdowns and poor team defense is starting to wear very thin.
Sure the Flyers came back a few times but it never felt to me like they really had a chance to win. The Rangers are just clearly a better team from the goalie on out. They play their system better than the Flyers play theirs, and Henrik is there to erase any mistakes more times than not.

All Im gonna say is the Flyers play more like the Rangers do defensively and Bryz's numbers will look more like Lundqvist's. This team played great defensively two years ago through the playoffs and made it to the finals with Boucher and Leighton. Bryzgalov is a much better goalie than either but that doesn't mean you play like poop in front of him and expect to win every game either. |

Hair pulling? Seriously? Is this 1974? Would love to see them pull hartnells hair in response but he would never take his visor off for a fight so that won't happen. |

I support Bryz nonstop but today he did not have a very good game. The defense was bad but three goals (two at the minimum) should have been stopped by Bryzgalov today. I dont think thats bashing him as he wasnt that good in net today. If he didnt have a chance on some of the goals I would be the first to say that but that wasnt the case today. |
