He passed it rite on the tape of the opposing player.
He had the easy play, chip it out.
He failed. - ggunky
Yes, he made a poor decision with the puck there, and he deserves criticism and the lion's share of the blame there. But I look at the entire situation instead of looking at it with tunnel vision. |

Two wide open nets missed in back to back games when the team was down 1-0 early. - Jsaquella
And?
Bryz was brought in to stop soft goals.
He didn't do it yesterday.

no, because we don't have the best record in the league or anything.
Lundqvist is having the goalie equivalent of Gretzky's 92 goal season. - jimbro83
I am pretty sure you are not going to find anyone on this board who is going to say Lundqvist isn't having a great year or isn't the best goalie in the league right now, but thanks for reminding us |

agreed. I would sure like to see this team clamp down and become a strong defense first team, not saying trap or anything like that, but maybe Lavy should tweak his system a little...seems to be a little too aggressive at times and they end up getting burned a lot. Of course, a little better goaltending might go along way toward helping that. - matman31
When people say that the relationship between team defense and the goaltending is symbiotic, they're right. Somebody said it earlier, but neither the defense or the goalie seem to have a ton of faith in each other.
Look at Gaborik's goal yesterday. Bryzgalov was so worried about a cross crease pass that he neglected to simply hug the post and make himself big. It's a two way street. Both sides have to be better. |

has a Flyers fan almost died from being attacked by going to a game at MSG to the best of your knowledge? - jimbro83
Many Flyers fans have died while attending games at MSG. But of course, the NY media wouldn't want you to believe that. Open your eyes, man. You've been dreaming all your life. |

No tunnel vision here.
He had a better option then the one he choose.

Anyone who has played bad for a period of weeks deserves criticism. It's not always limited to the scapegoats and whipping boys, unless people are biased and incapable of rational analysis.
Giroux's game is not where it needs to be in his own end and hasn't been there for awhile. He gets more of a pass than others, but it shouldn't make him immune. - Jsaquella
I'm not going to criticize Giroux. Like I said, he was the best player in the sport for 35 games, his play hasn't been at that level the last 15 games, he has to pick it up.
I think the bigger concern is the guy getting paid 10 million who has allowed countless soft goals and has a sub .900 save %. Guy has been a sieve. |

And Giroux is here to provide offense, and he blew two wide open chances in the past two games that could have changed the course of both games.
Bryzgalov deserves criticism. But at the same time, you can't say money players need to step up and not criticize Giroux for missing two wide open nets and playing poor defense. |

I hear ya, but Carle couldn't have made a better pass to the Rags player.
To be honest I think the whole entire Flyers team froze when they saw that pass!
- ggunky
Where was the rest of the team that was on the ice at when Carle turned that puck over? |

Is Giroux a money player? Did he play like a money player yesterday? - MJL
Pretty sure they didn't go get Giroux in the offseason to stop pucks. Giroux was drafted and blossomed into a great player. The Flyers went after Bryz before he was even a free agent because he was "the guy". Giroux is a 3rd year player. BIG difference. |

Look at my earlier posts, I stated the gap was to wide.
Carle still had a better option then to pass it onto the tap of a Rags stick.

Since were talking about what people are overlooking, Giroux's lack of quality two way play in the last month or so is a huge issue for this team. As the team's top player, he isn't immune to criticism, if it's deserved. And it is deserved right now. - MJL

Let the Rangers' fans chant. In the days of the GAG line, they used to chant "we're number one" because they were in first place. It was galling. But the Bruins and Habs stuffed it down their throats. And it was extra sweet when the Flyers put them and Brad (I'd rather lose with the guys in this dressing room than win it like them) Park out to pasture in May of 74. Unfortunately, they've won a Cup within the last 20 years and the Flyers have to go waaaaaaaaay back. |
