Do you think that anybody isn't frustrated with Bryzgalov? The thing is, I'm just as frustrated with Giroux blowing assignments over the past few weeks, guys who should be avoiding dumb, rookie mistakes like Coburn and Meszaros make them over and again, frustrated with Jagr trying to stickhandle through four guys and lose the puck at the blue line...There's a lot to be frustrated about from this weekend. - Jsaquella
Well said!
1. Team effort and team failure, yes Bryz needs to be better and at this point in the season I, frankly, don't blame anyone for saying he is a bust. But win or lose as a team and a lot of folks played like sh!! this weekend.
2. This is a great time for a change. Make a trade now Homer! Bring in a D man before this team is fighting to be 8th in the east- that is not far fetched!!
3. This doesn't look like a year that you go "all in" IMHO. Patch work now by trading little assets for a mean D man. Next year it's on like donkey kong! |

Bryz - too many softies
G - shoot more and put it in the net
Jagr - stop trying to weave in and out of 4 guys
Briere - stoppying being hurt
BOB - raise your shoulders just a little bit more to block those high non stoppable shots
Simmonds - Soul/Night Train, it's all good
Hartnell - stop falling
Fat Guy Dancing - STOP
Schenn - showing his skills
Lavy - learn to beat the pressure
Mez/Carle - step up

*gasp* You're right. You're the knowiest poster here. Do you want a cookie? I have a gif of one, but the guy eating it is from a video game, so... you probably don't want it.

Never claimed to be. You probably have me mixed up with someone else who thinks he is never wrong.
Was pointing out the fact someone who plays in the NHL at an all-star level knows a hell of a lot more than anyone who posts here does. He said the difference in the game was the goalie. That's good enough for me. |

So because Bryzgalov has played worse we ignore everything else? Like I said, that's your choice. - MJL
When did I ever say ignore anything else? I've said the whole time, and you can back read, that the whole team needs to be better. I'm just choosing to talk about Bryz right now. Why am I not allowed to talk about 1 player? Is there a rule that I need to discuss every single player? I know the rest of the team needs to be better, but when the goalie you brought in to be better than a back up isn't doing so, for the entire year so far, it deserves criticism. Giroux had 1 bad month, Bryz has had a bad season. |

Goalie is going to take the heat. There is no hiding missed assignments for Bryzgalov. When he makes a mistake or lets in a soft goal it doesnt go un-noticed. The issue is the Flyers made big roster moves and did everything in their power to get him. They signed him to a long-term contract to secure the goalie situation. Now the defense hasnt been good and makes mistakes over and over (forwards included) but Bryz has been average at make that next stop to change momentum. I like Bryz and think he will turn it around and be the guy we expect but with expectations comes big responsibilities and many feel like he isnt living up to it. Its a team game and if guys dont work together your chances are slim to none in the NHL. |

Girouox deserves criticism. Without a doubt. Here what should happen. Let's criticize every player who deserves it, instead of just one or two, and ignore the rest. It's what an informed fan does. - MJL
How 'bout this theory? I don't think Giroux's play has really changed. What has changed is that his line was clicking earlier in the season. The risky plays around the blue line were working, the blind cross ice passes were finding a teammates stick, pucks were going in the net. I don't think Giroux or his line were any more defensively responsible earlier in the year...they were just scoring goals and getting away with risky play. Maybe opposing teams are preasuring them more now. Maybe they expect Giroux to hold on to the puck too long and try to make a low percentage play. I also think Lavy wants them to be offensively aggresive...to take chances. I think they spent all this money on Bryz because they thought he was the goalie who could keep their team in the game even though they might not be defensively responsible. |

I'm very disappointed in Bryzgalov's play. He's been inconsistent all year long. He has 2 or 3 good games, then has a lousy game where you question his confidence and ability to bounce back. He's absolutely cost the team games this year and probably will cost them more games as the year goes on.
At the same time, Giroux and others started out great and had several good months, but they're struggling right now, especially in their own end. If people want to ignore that, it's on them, but I'm not going to. I'm not going to rely on scapegoats because I'm disappointed at how the team played, because I'm intelligent enough to watch and game and see shades of gray.
As for additions or going all in, I lean more to adding a solid young defenseman who can grow with the Couturier and Schenn, rather than a rental. It's absolutely not the year to go all in and sacrifice a good chunk of the future for a short term fix. |

I don't think anyone here has said once that Bryzgalov is the sole reason for the team's struggles recently. |

Jacob. I'm not proud of this but I actually saw one of the opening shows at 12:01am outside of Forks, WA (where the movie is supposed to be filmed- mostly actually in OR). Hilarious, I have never laughed at other people so much. Total joke of a night. |

If I was you, I'd re-read the last few pages, I saw at least two people blaming Bryzgalov for yesterday. |

Do you think the Flyers would be a better team today if they hadn't gone after the best goalie available last summer? If they made Bob their #1 and maybe picked up someone else as a backup? |
