Exctly my thoughts. I thought we mught just win a game, then they scored tht goal and i wanted to pull my hair out. - FLYERSROCK!
Frustrating without question. Rangers are the better team, with the better goaltender. When that is the case, the results shouldn't be a surprise. |

Exactly, I can tell when Bryz or Bob doesn't have a chance because the defense broke down. Even top corner shots from good scoring areas I can handle.
Sorry if the goalie is held to a higher standard. I am not advocating bailing on Bryz. - bird_dog
I don't want to bail on Bryz.
Let's face it, they Flyers don't have that option.
I simply want Bryz to play up to his abilities.
So when soft goals are allowed against he should expect to be called out on it.
I would be more the happy to see Bryz lead the Flyers to the Stanley cup.
A stanley cup isn't an option if he consistently allows weak goals.

If what you say is true and I am misjudging Carle and Coburn, is their often sloppy defensive play due to the structure and philosophy Laviolette and Co. have instituted?
I ask this because, even with Pronger, the Flyers are often a team that gives up a good amount of quality scoring chances.
Yes the goalie is responsible for the end result but the defense has left the goaltending out to dry for years on end in this city. I know the staple of the team, as it has been for years, is the high quality of depth and talent at forward. But, at some point there has to be a better balance, on the whole.
Defense and goaltending 9 out of 10 times defeat a highly skilled offense with average counterparts. I don't think Bryzgalov is a lost cause, I just think he needs a little better support in his own end. - MidnightMarauder
Your only as good as your defense. When the playoffs come around the team that plays solid in their own end usually wins. |

Reminds me of a healthy Vick. - stveshdy
Not sure if this was sarcasm or not but a healthy Vick on his best of best days could not make that throw. Vick's acurancy has never been his strong suit.
This isn't a bash on the Eagles or Vick, it's just a simple observation that I watched last night that the Eagles are a long way away from having a QB make that kind of a throw. |

the last thing I want to see this team do is throw away first or second (and yes I know they haven't drafted well in the second round) round picks for rental players. - nastyflyergirl
Is anyone even suggesting this? I mean realistically Gill @ 36 years of age should cost no more than a 4th. To me I think that's a good pickup with the chance to resign him cheap before anyone else does too. |

I hear ya.
I know goalies have bad seasons.
My hope is Bryz gets back to the way he was playing before this weekend.
My concern is he has been as consistent as he has been inconsistent and being a starting goalie in the NHL, that doesn't cut it.

if you look at his overall number he has been consistent. Ill give him this year, because lets face it half our team is gone. Next year though ill start being a little more critical.

Vick may not have made that throw but he could of scrambled for a 75 yard TD. I was talking more about his clutch factor. Vick finally has talented players to play with on offense and if he stays healthy you will see the beast unleashed next season. If Vick doesnt miss four games the NYG dont even make the playoffs this year. The Eagles are not that far away from winning a Super Bowl.
Great Coach- check
Good DC- check
Good OC- check
With a full offseason to develop this team is going to be the favorites next season to win the division and possible the NFC. |

Goaltending was a big factor, but like the Devils game, if the players in front of the goalie potted their empty netter goals, the score would be very different. It was truly a team effort in losing this weekend. - feelingkettle
Bryz put pressure on them when they were playing pretty well, especially the first bad goal. If Bryz makes a couple damn near routine saves, the Flyers don't have a 2 goal hill to climb. |

Now sit down and shut it and give the guy a chance...i think the reason that philly hasnt had any goalies since hextall is because no one else was crazy enough to be able to put up with the poop in this town! - Philly1980
Are you going to care about those numbers if the Flyers get bounced in the first round because of bad goaltending? I don't care about career numbers right now. I want the goalie to play like he should. Has two strong games last week, then poops the bed against the Rangers. He needs to be better.
The rest of the team also needs to step it up, but 2 of the goals last night need to be stopped, bottom line. |

EL OH EL!
Why did Eli go into GB and (frank) Rodgers skull? He OWNED Rodgers all day and night. If Rodgers is the League MVP at home with a 15-1 team, why is he getting beat by a mediocore 9-7 team? |

Face it with the way they are playing team defense they are lucky if they make it to the first round! our bob also "SHAT" the bed this weekend. |
