not apologizing for him, nor am i suggesting anyone feel bad for him. but, I look at the rest of the team, and the honest effort a lot of guys are putting up and it has to be brutal for them to see all this stupid behaviour... - EricEngels
what gets me more than anything is that gomez hated last season more than any of us yet he somehow managed to come back WORSE than he's ever been in his life. That alone deserves whatever taunting he gets. |

It's not about Gomez, it's the message they are sending Molson. How else do you suggest they do it. They cannot call him and tell him they want Gauthier gone, and possibly he's next. - Champ
Tweet him. |

It is a shame that Pleks got caught up in the backlash just the same. He played a great game and would normally have been recognized for it. |

I disagree. Leaf fans just sat there and took it up the hoop. I've got no problems with fans reacting, especially when they come out and play the way they did against Washington on Sat.. Far too many games like that this season. - Pie
Fans play really good money to watch these guys, it pays their salary. Really, the fans are the boss and if their not happy with the preformance they have every right to voice that displeasure. |

How many times this season did you tell yourself "wow, looks like they completely quit after that goal" and watch them lose? How many times have you seen them completely collapse after taking a lead for most of the game and allow 1 goal that completely kills them?
They did offer, on some nights, a pretty good 60 minute effort. And I'm pretty sure fans can recognize that. But they have been few and far between.
I'm not much of a booer, but I can assure you that I completely understand why the fans are heckling Gomez and/or the team at this point.
They have been pathetic for most of the season. - Pecafan Fan
patterns are hard to break, especially when teams study videos of your undoing. the further you sink, the further it is to get out of.
their start buried them deep, and they haven't been able to climb out. there's a lot of factors in that, beyond just the games themselves and how they've been played.
it's been a brutal season, and they've played brutal for most of it. and effort has waned after so many games of trying and not obtaining results.
Tough to get a full team commitment. In that sense it's no different than a men's league where similar circumstances unfold. you come to the rink wanting to win, but you keep getting reminded of how hard that's going to be with every bad goal, or emotional let down. |

I agree and on the other side, they cheer them hard when they leave it all out on the ice. |

I think it's clear he wants to be better, but his story is no longer about will. he lost his confidence a long time ago, and under the scrutiny, pressure (self-imposed or not) he hasn't been able to regain it.
And at times, it's been because of his work ethic, but mostly, it's just because he doesn't believe he can do it. That much is clear in his play, no matter what he says.
It's sad.
I don't really believe that anyone deserves the kind of treatment he probably gets from day-to-day in Montreal, no matter how much they make, but what can I say. Life's unfair.
Who was the great philosopher that once said "Mo Money, Mo problems"?
Kidding, of course.

Again, if the effort is there, fans notice it.
After the first goal against Washington, you could tell the game was over. It was an embarrassing performance, delivered by an embarrassing team in front of an embarrassed crowd.
Fans are pissed. The team sucks. Their highest paid player didn't score in over a year. What do you expect, that people will show up with pompoms and cheer them hoping for better days? |

it is what it is. you're right about that. I just meant in terms of team mentality. It's hard to build under the circumstances they've fallen into after a brutal start. |

1) Go see a sports psychologist
2) If you want to cry about being under public pressure, dont become a public figure. |

if you read what I wrote, I find it sad that they'd rather mock Gomez than cheer for a Plekanec goal. whether you agree (clearly, you don't and that's ok), that's a dumb way to spend money. May as well stay home or sell the tickets to someone who wants to be there.
but hey... I agree that they can express themselves as they wish to. |

They paid to be there. they chose to boo. who are you to say what they can or cannot do? I'm betting MOST of the 21273 think we're dumb for wasting time on HB. |
