Not enough traffic at the net, to block the sight lines of Nabokov. No tips, or deflection, and no second chance opportunities. - MJL

I agree, a lot of perimeter play, it was still a nice effort by the boys tonight. DOMINATED. |

This Bryzgalov has given up 8 goals on 10 shots in the shootout this year. The definition of non-competitive. Embarrassingly laughable.
28 home losses in the last 45 home games. Once again, non competitive.

Two pendulums swinging opposite each other have a better chance of winning shootouts than Bryz.
Not blaming him for the loss because the good guys didn't score anyway. - bird_dog
ya he played well
it did look like he waited a bit too long to come out to challenge Neilson though.. and didnt have enough time to get set until it was too late |

Giroux and Jagr both look real close to scoring , especially Giroux. Usually, the final stage of a scoring slump is an abundance of chances that just don't go in. For a while in Jan, Giroux was passing up his shots.
If he bags one yet tonight, suddenly he'll have scored in 3 of last 4 games and ppl will be writing about him heating up again rather than being snakebitten. - bmeltzer

Very impressive dominating the Islanders at home and losing. I think they should all receive a balloon and a cookie. |

How many times have the forwards scored in the shootout? We're lucky if we get one goal on the other goaltender.
That said, can't really complain about much tonight. Bryz played well overall and Nabokov was unbelievable. |

That's ridiculous. Bryzgalov did not give up a goal in regulation and OT, and your going to call him non competitive and laughable?
They outshot them 45 to 18 and carried the play for the entire game, and they were non competitive? Those statements are laughable.

Neilsen is like 60% on the shootout, and Taveras made a real nice shot. This game isn't on Bryzgalov. The Flyers didn't score a goal, through regulation, OT, and the shootout. You have score at least 1 goal at some point to win. - MJL
I'm not blaming Bryz for this but he has to be the worst goalie I have ever seen in the shootout.
The flyers have to score at least one goal in 65 minutes.
There were a few times the flyers tried to make the perfect pass when they were in good scoring areas.
If Lavi knew a game was going to go to the shootout I guarantee Bob starts that game. |

Because it's a gutsy call for any coach to make but I really think Lavy has to consider it at some point ...Bryz is just lost |

Nabakov was great, still doesn't take away from the fact coming off two division losses, they failed to beat the team who currently sits in 12th in the Eastern Conf at home. |

Briere giroux schenn then you win the gimmick - Philly1980
Yeah, don't understand the Simmongs choice.. stupid but Lavy's probably out of ideas to win the shootout. I expect next time they will concede the point.. we can't win them. I expect us giving all these points away will cost us in either seeding or us making the playoffs.
Bryz with the shutout, and overall he played well, but he's terrible at the shooutous. Doesn't even get a piece of the shots normally. |

Seriously??
I don't post often but give me a break with the goalie is laughable garbage. You're a knowledgeable poster and you make good points more times than not but the shootout has been a problem for years now, no matter who the goalies are. My concern is why it's so difficult for our guys to score every single time a shootout comes about.
Bottom line is, our forwards come up small, time and time again, in the shootout. We're supposedly the 2nd best scoring team in the league. Don't you think it should reflect in the shootout more times than not?

He hasn't been good in the shootout. But Neilsen put on a strong move, and he's almost 60% in the shootout. And Taveras made a very good shot. The Flyers should try some of that in the shootout. |

Tough gimmick loss. Needed a greasy goal, but nobody in front of the net all night.
And please, when you're in the slot shoot the (frank)ing puck and quit trying to make the extra pass. There's nothing wrong with a rebound goal. |

Being the worst in the NHL at anything is ridiculous. Everyone can complain about the shootout all they want, it's part of the rules and it won't be changing anytime soon. The fact there is no improvement year after year is unacceptable. Points constantly pissed away. |
