It is when you do it blindly and you have the other team gassed.
- Richieattack18

No it's not. The other players have to do their part. That's why it's a team game.

He didn't have a bad game. Nobody on the Flyers had a bad game.

who is the leader on this team?is it g or kimmo.i hate to say this but i miss richards at this point.when he was on his game you knew he was the leader.
- richiewinthecup

This game really has nothing to do with Richards. He's no longer a Flyer. They have plenty of leadership.

In regards to Mike Richards, I'm going to go ahead and call this revisionist history.

EDIT: Sorry, misread that as "every game"

They were all fantastic. Don't be silly. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to a team with 1/10 the talent and call it a day.

Why you want to focus your judgement of the game on the skills competition is embarrassing.

Yes we get it, Bryzgalov has struggled in the shootout, that's obvious. But do you feel its a problem at all with forwards in the as well? Its been an issue since the shootout was instituted. The goalie continually gets zero goal support. I think that deserves a laughable comment as well.

That 13/14 rounder with Niittimaki stopping everything while each Flyers shooter continued to get stoned sticks well in my memory.

- SeaIslelandLush

Not the shooters necessarily. The shooters Lavi has been choosing. Like why Simmonds and Briere before Giroux? It stunned me how Lavi is an NHL coach and does things dumber than what a highschool coach would do. You put your best options out there for the shootout to get the extra point.

Maybe not. What's the deal with 28 losses in the last 45 home games? That's insane. Bad teams do better than that at home.
- PLindbergh31

Could be any one of several things or a combination of a few. I wouldn't say they routinely come out flat at home.

Oh yes. I totally miss Richards lollygagging all over the ice last year. What a pleasure that was to watch. He tried his best 5 percent of the time.

You could definitely tell when he decided to show up. When he didn't, well, sometimes he got away with half-hearted efforts.

Well whatever the reason, seems like the coaches, players have no answers on how to change it. The beat goes on at home with the losing. Getting old.

The Isles made their shots. The Flyers didn't.
- MJL

I would agree it was that simple if there was a wood insert put in net and the players had to shoot through the holes but it doesn't work that way. This team loses to many points because they stink in the skills competition or whatever you want to call it.
I put this on the organization. This isn't a new thing for this year.
As the flyers proved the playoffs can be a reality or something to watch on tv because of shootout wins and losses.

I agree to a certain extent. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but Lava must see something in Simmonds in practice maybe, who knows. But Id imagine that experiment will be over after tonight. He has to put Giroux in the 1 or 2 slot. No reason for him to be last with potential of never shooting.

I remember Timonen having a nice skillset for the shootout. And I'd like to try Read there again. He beat the goalie on his only opportunity, just rang it off the pipe.

Ummm. Bud, Simmonds has been better than Richards has this year, kicked more asses than Richards this year, and shows more effort than Richards. Plus we got a top prospect in Schenn who is very much like the young Mike Richards. I think you should get tested for concussions

Nobody was horrible tonight. Carle mishandled a few plays. The failure tonight was they didn't get enough traffic at the net. Nabokov got too good of a look at everything. And they had some misfortune. I don't expect Giroux to get that many quality chances and not pot at least one, too often in games.

Carle has to be removed from the point on the power play. Amazing this guy does nothing to improve his shot.

All Flyers shooters need to watch what Burrows and Legwand just did to Rinne and Luongo in the SO.

Yes it does work that way. At some point whether it is in regulation, OT, or the shootout. You have to put the puck in the net at least once, to win the game.

What should they do, start drafting for the shootout? It's up to the players to get it done.

If they didn't lose their last two games in frustrating fashion, most would chalk this up as a 'goalie standing on his head' loss. But first 3 game losing streak of the season makes it sting that much more...and its the Islanders

I'm looking past the three game losing steak, that happens to nearly every team during the course of an 82 game schedule. The much more alarming trend is the failure to win at home.
