A little worried about Danny Briere playing today but who better to start off against then the Islanders. He has pretty good numbers against them. On the flip side of the coin, I haven't heard anything about Briere since last week. I can neither confirm or deny how he's been doing this past week. |

you've answered your own question. JVR is clearly a notch or 2 above. - isaiah520
How is JVR clearly a notch or 2 above? Schenn has been a top defenseman on an NHL team as a 21 year old. Has JVR been a top player on an NHL team in his career? |

Hell yeah. Bryz has been pretty solid lately. He gave up a late period goal and didnt have a good third period. His overall performance has been getting better. Lets see if he answers the call tonight against the Islanders. |

That mole of his is extraordinary! It clearly tips the scales in his favor. C'mon man. |

Didn't think it was debate that scoring wingers are generally held as more valuable assets than defensive defensemen. |

Good point but at the same time the Flyers are a better and much deeper team then the Toronto Maple Leafs. |

Defense and Goaltending win Championships. Flyers need to figure a way to get both playing better to have a realistic chance in the playoffs. |

Especially against teams like the Rangers and Bruins who's goalies don't let in too many softies. The Flyers need to cut down their goals against if they want to make it against teams like that. Can't let them score more than 3 on you if want to have a chance in the playoffs. Thomas and Lundqvist can shut the door on you at that point. |

Carchidi is reporting that JVR is still having headaches. He's not going anywhere most likely. |

Good call. Right back on the horse.
Also, fantastic news about Danny's return. Hopefully JVR is on his way back at some point. I was expecting an announcement that he had to get surgery on his hip or something. |

I still think if the Flyers are going to trade JvR it will be in the summer time and it will be to acquire a top tier defenseman.
Homer will probably opt to holding onto JvR and look to add defenseman in different direction first. |

I'd rather they hang tight and wait for the big fish in the offseason. If they can make a trade that's too good to turn down or a minor move or two without giving up much then that's cool with me. I don't think the Flyers should make any drastic all-in type of moves at the deadline. |

A top defensive defenseman is certainly more valuable then a top scoring Winger in my opinion.
I would rank the positions as follows in terms of importance
Goalie
Defenseman
Center
Winger |

Hard to be all-in when your playing 8 rookies in the lineup at times. |
