It would help if the hosts on that station had some knowledge of the sport and could name more than the top line, first two defensemen and goalie without an intern looking it up. - JoeRussomanno
I love when they say "the Flyers will make a deal for Suter or Weber" like its a given.

I think he's horrible in the shootout but his team is unable to get one past the other goalie which is worse b.c the advantage goes to the shooter in those situations. - JoeRussomanno
I've never seen it so quiet at this point in the season ...calm before the storm - keatondixon
Some teams are on the bubble. You wouldn't think Ottawa would be sellers a month ago, but their recent swoon has put a different spin on things maybe. I think teams are holding out as long as possible to see where they'll be at the TDL.
Plus, I think the asking prices thrown around last month turned off a lot of GM's.

One and a half, and what makes you think Weber wouldnt resign? Its a gamble, but its not a high risk gamble that your making it out to be. Besides, it's worthless to debate since I HIGHLY doubt Weber gets traded... I was just saying that it would take players of the Calibur for me to trade Schenn or Couturier. - RooNosHockey
Im betting Weber will want the max and get it from someone. If it is the Flyers, they basically have to blow up the team to fit him. And then we become Nashville. Its just an opinion, but adding Weber will severely cut in to the depth this team ices right now.

Ferraro was on local radio this morning as usual. He was speaking with two GM's yesterday and they told him things are very, very quiet right now. Most teams are having their pro scout meetings and making decisions on what they need.
I'd expect to see things start heating up next week. - rockychocbill
I can decide what we need. (frank)ING DEFENSE COME ON HOMER JUST WATCH THE GAME

Once a team has the puck established in the offensive zone, there really is no system. That is when the players creativity comes into play, and taking what is available. They can rely on scouting reports and strategies for individual games, against certain Goalies and defensive strategies that other teams use. There is no such thing as using a system too much. - MJL
The Flyers shoot and pass from the perimeter too much, and dont drive the net enough. Teams know this, so they are always looking to break up the pass up the boards, and across ice. They are also aware of how much they use the drop pass, and how usually if a player is on a break, they will wait for the trailer to shoot. There are systems and set plays, even when they are in the offensive zone... Please see the example of Hartnell moving to the hasmarks in the faceoff circle. Its a set play, Hartnell moves there, Giroux and Jagr try to get it to him....

It agrivates me they call themselves 4 for 4.... - RooNosHockey
Yea it's total hypocrisy. When the Flyers were tearing it up early in the season, the sixers hadn't started their season, the Phillies choked themselves out of the playoffs and the Eagles showed why they have never have won a superbowl but who was the least talked about team?
The Flyers lost Giroux to a concussion in december I tune in to 610 because I'm trying to hear what is going on b/c I'm on the road that whole day, instead we are talking about the Dontrelle willis signing ALL (frank)ING DAY! The best player out of all 4 teams is about to be lost possibly for the season and you just want to talk about some bullpen move that has no impact on the phillies season. really? After about two hours of this and only a newsbreak that announced Giroux was lost to a head injury I turned it off and was content to listen to my mp3 and wait till I got home.

There are set plays such as off of offensive zone draws and on the PP. But shooting from the perimeter and not driving the net isn't the Flyers system. And the Flyers aren't using set plays on every rush or every puck cycle. What your seeing from teams like the Islander last night collapsing around the Goalie, and same for the Rangers, is not a style of play they use just for the Flyers. It is their defensive style of play game in and game out.

Yup, and the Flyers cant beat that defensive system with thier offensive system. They need to mix it up, so the Islanders and Rangers will mix up thier defense. It called adjusting in-game... If something isnt working, you dont keep doing it, hoping for different results... The coach needs to say... They are taking away the passing lanes, get to the net, and send pucks in from the point... Get the rebounds... Then the Rangers will expand the box, to cover the defense's shots and open it up for passes... That's what needs to change.

He lost it when a guy called in saying he was a huge Flyers fan, sort of watched phillies and sixers, but didn't watch the Eagles. He said he didn't root against them, just wasn't a big football guy. Thought Ant' was going to have a heart attack.
