I was getting at hes and OD.
The Flyers need a Pronger like player, another shut down defender who can log minutes, not a liability forward - Scottie Upshall
Tell me where we can get another Pronger like player and for what, and I'm on board.

He had nothing to do with Richards and Carter.

It's going to cost JVR or another rookie for JJ. Rather stand pat, or go all in for Weber

We'll see what it's going to cost for Johnson, but I agree the cost will be high. Don't know if Weber is even going to be available. If I knew, I agree, rather try and get Weber.

Weber I don't think is an option. I'm not excited one bit about JJ. It would cost a Matt Read at least |

The only thing that worries me is for a guy that size, he should be more physical. He has a lot of tools and is still young. It's a little bit of a risk, but he could be a star on the backend. - MJL
I think for a guy with his kind of contract, you cant have questions about compete level and attitude.
Which he has had.
I'd love to have him, but for that contract and what it would cost to get him in a Flyers jersey.. Too many questions..
The Flyers made a move to get a culture change this summer, dont go back on it by getting a guy like JJ. |

Not sure how acquiring JJ would be considered going back to a previous "culture". Also, what is the type of culture you're referring to? Lazy hockey? Partying? Conditioning? |

But didn't the Flyers improve their overall depth with moving Richards and Carter?

I've heard that LA is trying to dump cap space and the return on Johnson would be a First rounder and a Prospect. It thats true and the Prospect is like Gus or MAB, then its a steal. I have also heard Voracek, but Read would make more sense because of the cap hit. If its Read and a First for JJ, I do it. |

Does a 1st + MAB get you Jack Johnson? Considering he's in play due to salary relief, the Kings don't hold ALL of the cards in this deal. |

You're right on about that...
To accomodate the deal above, the Kings would need to move some salary cap and the Philadelphia Flyers have expressed strong interest in Jack Johnson. Los Angeles would likely ask for a 1st round pick and a prospect in return.

I don't give Read + 1st. I don't even do Read for JJ straight up. A trade for Read would have to wow me, considering his cap hit, contract length, and ceiling for growth.
MAB or Gust + 1st seems like a no brainer, as long as we stay cap compliant. |

He's 25. It's not uncommon for a player to have those question marks. As an example, Voracek had that same reputation in Columbus. Is it proven to be true? Don't by into the hype. 98% of it is BS.

am still hearing noise about a Flyers/Leafs deal centered around Luke Schenn and James Van Riemsdyk. Brian Burke also wants Matt Read in return but it does not look like Paul Holmgren is going to go for that.

With the kind of money Read is making and for the kinds of things he can do for this team, he is almost untouchable to me.
You need those cheap guys who provide points and versatility to your team.
Keep Read. |
