You do know as soon as the TDL comes and goes, there'll be the dissatisfied fans who begin looking to draft day trades we have to make, right? - BulliesPhan87
I don't know why I come here. So few people want to see the team that's there and talk about the games. It's all GM all the time. And that's the one role in a hockey team I never fantasized about having. |

Voracek certainly has shown that he has a lot more jam than he was given credit for. It would help his value if he started to pot a few. But I'm really pleased with the progress he's made this year. |

This time of year, it's contagious. Regardless of any scenario, the key is not making a bad deal. No deal is better than a bad one. And yes, fire is hot |

I'd have no problem with acquiring Hal Gill. He has been very good in the post-season with Montreal. He and Gorges were the one's responsible for shutting down Crosby and Ovechkin when they made their ECF run in 2010. - LordStanley88
Hal Gill is the one who decides whether or not Crosby wins a Cup. |

If it's Schenn it's because Burke wants JvR.
Johnson, if not for JvR, might be had for a Voracek package. The Kings need offense. - Jsaquella

What about Flyers fans makes you think getting a young defenseman that will get better is the way they'll want to go? They still think Carle is the same player he was when he got here. Every player stays in their minds as he was when he arrived.
I kind of wish we could keep the mid-career defensemen we've already been through growing pains with (Carle and Coby). Keep the young guys who's growing pains will be at least our own guys growing pains (Gusty and MAB). Keep the guy who needed a change of scenery (Meszaros) and find someone to replace the fully mature player we sadly will likely not see again (Pronger). But do you do that now? Or when Timmo's deal is up? - bodiva88
You do it when the opportunity arrives. Carle will cost alot more than JJ. |

I'll probably get laughed off the net but if we can keep the guys we have on the Blueline and just build that would be perfect in my book. People say they are tired of this guy or that and want someone they think will be the knight in shining armor.
Its like married people getting divorced because they can't deal with the issues already entwined in a marriage when the partner isn't the issue. Hope I didn't get too deep there trying to do a paper for school and talking hockey throws me out of character
anyway yes we have gone through some growing pains with this group and there is a lot more to sports than swapping in and out parts. Sometimes trades work wonderfully for teams but a lot of times they don't. Does the defense need help? yes but I don't want to overturn half the roster to get it. This is a young team that needs to grow. For all we know MAB and Gustafson could be Beast and Howe in 3-4 years then what? I'm sorry but under no circumstances do I want to trade Couturier or Schenn at this point. I do not want to trade JVR either. IF we must trade one of them it better be good gosh darn deal. Team just needs to grow IMHO and their franchise goalie needs perhaps some more time to adapt. People just need some patience. |

I think the potential of the cap hit being a bargain is much greater then the risk of it being an overpayment

I, for one, agree with you 100%! Excellent perspective. It's amazing how antsy in their pantsy people get about trades, and I'm sorry if names like Gill, Allen, or Gleason (G.A.G) never quite piqued my interest. Stay the course, Flyers! |

I wouldn't mind having any of those guys but not at the expense of anything more than a Phantom or late round pick.
Oh meant to say this earlier but at the game last night I saw Carle give a few nice shots behind the play- i.e he is not soft. Does he play bonecrushing hockey? No but his style of play is necessary. If we didn't have him things would be worse than they are. Yes he had a couple bad plays last night but so what? it happens just like once in a while the goalie is gonna give up one he wished he had back. People just gotta go with it at this point. I think not just flyer fans but sports fans in general are conditioned to be in this trade mentality.
Granted there is times for trades but right now this group of players has a ton of potential. We might not see it coming this year, but believe me we are sitting on a gold mine of a hockey team people. |
