If I were looking to shake things up, I might try putting Briere in Jagr's spot on the Giroux line. - BulliesPhan87
That could be interesting. |

I figure he and Giroux have enjoyed playing together in the past, and we all remember what Briere and Hartnell accomplished in their time together. |

I thought Carle had one of his worst games last night. Cooter on a nightly basis gets slung hard to the ice, I hope he doesn't hit his head. Need more traffic. Islanders just kept the flyers to the outside all freeging night. |

I agree, which is why I'd hate to be a coach in the shootout. I'd want to play who's hot, but I still don't know if Simmonds is the right choice. It's kind of like shooting in the dark. The way Nabokov was playing, didn't really matter who they put out in the shoot out. - funmaster18
With the beautiful break away Schenn had against Lundquist, why not him... Briere is a good choice imo, but I can see why you might not want him going first because he might be rusty... If Giroux is clutch, you use him first, not 3rd because you need the goals early, because as you can see you might not even get to the 3rd shooter... With Matt Read's accuracy why not give him another chance... I know he bungled 1, but come on... Simmonds has hands of stone, he has to work for his goals in dirty areas... It's like putting Hartnell on the shootout.... |

He's not a viable shootout option though - JoeRussomanno
Well the Coach is picking him for some reason. |

Plus Jagr has looked pretty good playing with Schenn. I think that might be a good move and it frees up Giroux and Jagr a bit where teams can't focus on them at the same time. Creates better match ups. |

I think Jagr said when he signed here the reason he signed was to be with a right handed center like Giroux or Briere... I'm not sure if Couturier or Schenn are right handed, or how long Jagr would "like" playing with them. |

I just felt they got ZERO traffic in front of Nabokov.
And no disrespect meant to Simmonds who is having a really nice yr for the Flyers but seriously, what is with the choice for the shootout? Did we not see Schenn beat Lundqvist on a breakaway on a sweet move? and why save Giroux last? I hate that mentality - nastyflyergirl
nice loss last night. hope you enjoyed it. |

With Briere, I'm guessing Lavi thought why not? He was getting his legs going and maybe he had some motivation after missing so much time, but I wouldn't have led with him. If Giroux goes first and scores, it puts more pressure on the Islanders and less on Bryzgalov. |

Not having JvR hurts. This kid is suppose to be the face of the franchise along with Giroux once Carter and Richards were sent packing. The Flyers could really use him right now. Big power forward who can create havic all over the ice (when healthy). |

Probably because, like you said, he's been hot lately. I just don't know if I'd put him out there. I don't see what he does in practice, though. |

The Flyers need to get both offense and defense before the deadline. Everyone was hell bent on defense being the only priority but they need more offense as well.
I can't help but eye up the Ducks roster. (Selanne/ Ryan) |

I thought he's looked great with Schenn when he's been moved to that line. I forget who the other linemate was, but the game that Jagr first came back from his latest groin injury he was buzzing on that second line. |

Once Couturier fills out, he will be a beast out there! He's going to get his fair share of knocking around this season. As long as he stays healthy, he will learn from it. Totally agree with the traffic. It seems they like getting traffic during the PP with the high-low screen in front, I just wish they'd get to the net more during even strength. |

sources tells me Chris Pronger is here at Skate Zone today. Teammates have not seen him in quite a while
Hopefully he's at least getting better. He can be just as invaluable off the ice as he is on the ice, if he's healthy enough. Would love to see him as an assistant coach here one day. |

86 shots and not a single one of them went threw, I have been sitting at my desk all morning trying to figure this out and I am still at a loss for words. I guess after giving myself time to cool down, it wasnt an awful game.... I can live with out any goals as long as there is action which their was.
My favorite part of the game was watching Schenn zig zag threw multiple people during the 3rd pd lastnight. |
