Team is definitely in a funk right now. I hope they just ride through it. I know it's pretty fun to play armchair GM and ship this guy, or that guy out of here but the Flyers have a great thing going despite this past weekend. It seems like for the first time in awhile, they have a great core of guys who are willing to go the extra step and win. Part of the problem the organization has always had in trying to win a Cup since '75 is these quick fixes--trading at a deadline, or picking up key acquisitions in free agency. They have never really settled with a core and let them grow, which is so imperative right now--look at Pittsburgh, Chicago, hell--even Washington and Florida. A lot of the success they had were done through their own system. |

Except I can pretty much count the games on one hand when he has done the above. Two or three of them happened in last season's playoffs...which is great. That the guy has a playoff gear is one of the big reasons I don't want Holmer even thinking about shipping him out unless he gets a return to which he just can't say "no". I hope he develops into a player that consistently plays in the manner in which you portray him, however, he ain't there yet. I cut him slack though because of his youth and injuries. I'm rooting for JVR. - Lexington Flyer
When JvR is healthy he has the ability to dominate. He is a young kid who is still maturing into his body. Last year during the playoffs was a taste of what he can do. Playing like that on a consistent basis will have to be determined (but injuries have killed that all year). |

45 shots last night was the only positive, Bryz faced 18 shots, please... and still looks like he is not even focused in the s/o. but complaining about the goal tending is a lost cause b/c we're stuck with the guy. if we had been putting the puck in the net the pressure would be taken off the backside and Bryz. Ik jaromes cap hit is 7 mil but the way he is playing he could be in the league another 5+years. Prob one of the most solid wingers in the game to play with Danny B. Wb schultz on Washington, dependable d man, has he even played lately or is he still a healthy scratch? - Flyers4Life88
Apparently you missed the first period when the shots he faced were tough odd man rushes. |

I agree with much of what you posted. The problem is the Flyers are consistently good when it comes to making the playoffs within the last 10-15 years. Besides JvR, Couturier (trade) and Pitkanen they never have top 10 draft choices. So the easiest way to build their team is to make trades and spend money. |

So when he pitches a shutout, you think that's the time to bring up games when he didn't? What a fan! smh |

Crazy. They lost yesterday bc the Islanders goalie stole the game. The Flyers outplayed the NYI in every aspect of the game last night and unfortunately the gimmick cost the Flyers a point again. |

I'm modding two delighted forums right now. The Rangers lost with a disallowed goal with 4 secs left. I told my best friend that they needed to stop waiting until the last second to score. How often have they done that this year? |

The Flyers get a shutout 2-3 times a year if that, and when you lose the game the shutout doesn't mean a thing. winning isnt everything, its the only thing. like i said, we're stuck with him, gotta work around him. Whats expected of Bryz has been reduced from super star to average, lets win the game 4-3. |

Just give it up ...Flyers aren't getting Selanne, or Iginla, or bringing Owen Nolan out of retirement. With the way the D has been struggling, u wanna scrap Carle for picks and replace him w Hal Gill. Sheesh |

Thats funny cause the Rangers score late in the games/periods and the Flyers do the opposite by allowing them late in games/periods. |

These teams had to lose for a long time to get those picks, to develop that core. Are you willing to do that too? I'm not. |

Flyers cost the Flyers a point last night. This cycle/perimeter game makes good goalies look even better. |

I don't know about that, but I do think the isles had as many great chances as we did and Bryz was impressive. - isaiah520
Maybe it was just me then and maybe the number of chances is throwing me off. |

I dont understand. The Flyers offense is in the top 5 in scoring how can their cycle/perimeter game make goalies look even better? We're acting as if the Flyers have been terrible at putting the puck in the net. |

No, I still think Defense is the priority, I just think we also should look into getting a shoot first, drive the net forward. |
