I think he had it in him to be better. I think the Legion of Gloom (He, Tim and Carchidi) have a running bet to see who can out-do the others on a daily basis.

Honestly, I am not sure who is the worse. Calling Couturier a dman ranks up there with me. i mean, i can see if the Flyers first pick is in 2nd or third round and they aren't informed but when you know the team you are paid to cover is drafting 8th overall, MAYBE, just MAYBE you should know the top 15 prospects. just a thought - nastyflyergirl
just maybe...maybe....nahhhhhhh that's too much work. he would rather work on his profile Photo... |

I think he would have benefited from working his way up, starting at a smaller paper and earning his way into a bigger gig. Going from intern to reporter on a major city daily smacks of a desperation to save money on the part of a paper and make the young reporter far too easily manipulated.
Why oh why do they not combine the papers. They might get one relatively healthy paper. And with different ownership, maybe they'd change course and realize covering the heck out of the local/regional news is the only way a local paper is relevant. If they are just a conduit for AP reports, they may as well fold. |

I actually think it's perfect. Now, if only they'd created prequels in which he was seduced by the power, rather than tricked into it via an obvious ploy |

So far they keep saying they want to keep them separate. And the bidder they want to sell to wants to keep them separate (huge mistake).
Before one of the pre-bankruptcy sales (can't remember which ownership group) it was considered a foregone conclusion that they'd buy, wait for the at-that-time-current Guild contract to expire, and then merge the two papers. But they didn't do it even after the new contract. (Waiting for the new contract was to avoid high expense based on buyout requirements in the old deal, I think.)
If they merged now they could have one fully staffed paper, instead of two skeleton staffed papers, and could figure out what kind of paper/website they want to be. There aren't enough advertising revenues available to feed two papers or enough eyeballs interested in consuming two papers. |

The prequels were meant to show the tragic downfall of Anakin, which should have made his redemption by Luke all the more meaningful. However, whether because of poor acting, or trying to force his fall so quickly, the impression given off was Anakin was a brat, and the fall was cheap. Frustrating. |

I have to stop this conversation here, as much as I want to have it, because it'd be unfair to those seeking hockey conversation to outline how literally everything in this new trilogy was exactly and entirely wrong in every possible way (and evenm in a few theoretical ways). |

Although, of course, you can start a thread in Misc or in Flyers areas to have that discussion. Seems like there are a few of you who'd enjoy it.
I did not watch the prequels, much as I enjoyed the original trilogy. |

Perhaps I shall, in the few hours I'm out of work tonight.
As for your viewing, I recommend keeping it that way. For all my nerddom here, I'm a fan of them as films first. The chief failure of the new movies is that they broke what I think is the most important rule of film writing: "Show, don't tell." |
