Hard to believe MAB was in the ECHL late last season and now he's playing a regular shift for the Flyers.
If his skating was better and his decision making should get better he could be a 3rd pairing dman as well.
Sadly the Flyers can't expect to win the Cup with two question marks in the top 6 dmen. - Buts16
Exactly. With 1, sure, 2? Sounds iffy. Definitely pleasantly surprised with the play of both guys this season. If Pronger doesn't get hurt, they may have never gotten a look this year. At least not this extensively. |

If I could add two dman to the Flyers that I think would be great fits and realistic targets (not Weber, Doughty etc) I would like to think that Regehr and Voynov would be exactly what the doctor ordered.
That said I thought Gus was pretty solid, I like that kid. I think he may be a top 6 dman down the road. - Buts16
What do you think it takes to land Voynov? I have zero problem giving up a 1st for him. He's young, but already has some experience so you know he won't be a bust. I think the Kings are looking for a quick fix tho so I feel like they may want a forward instead. |

t would only be for picks and prospect because its a salary dump for the kings they are hard after carter
i also seen that if they made this deal for jj there still a chance they would trade for schenn too - griouxmvp2012
Not sure I buy into LA wanting to reunite richie and cartsey |

just a rumor but they do want offense so jj would be a salary dump we would send a pick and a prospect |

Voynov is a guy id like to see. Heard he can shoot and is very solid in his own end. This trade deadline is going to be interesting - bigmookalookie
Ill pass.. the last thing I think we need is an undersized offensive d-man.. Yes he has some pop to his game and is a feisty guy.. but he is another small d-man. |

At this point it wouldn't surprise me. LA is in dire need of offense and Carter is one of the biggest names out there. I know they really wanted Parise but Carter comes with a somewhat friendlier cap hit. |

No 3rd pairing dman will fix the defensive issues. The 1st two periods the Flyers were a mess and the 3rd they played well defensively I thought.
Even if they bring in a vet dman it's the dmen on the roster right now that need to tighten up as do the forwards.
Just get the damn puck out. - Buts16
One of the keys to playing well in the 3rd last night is that Laviolette changed the forecheck. And it seemed to work well.

The flyers need to be careful with the puck tomorrow. The rangers wait for you to make mistakes and counter. They need to control the puck well in the rags zone because they've been so good at clearing it out. It can wear the flyers down constantly dumping, chasing, and coming out empty handed and having to skate back to their zone. Get to the puck first! |

I am not a JJ fan at all, I do not like his game at all.
If the Flyers traded JVR for JJ I'd be furious. - Buts16
Depends on what they have to give up. He has a hell of a skill package. |

Forechecking is a big key to tomorrows game, IMO. |

Ill admit that he has surprised me, but I still dont think he is an NHL d-man. He has played well enough, but his skating and decision making are both bad. He was down right scary yet again last night in the 1st and 2nd, but settled down in the 3rd.
Here is my biggest problem with him. He is paired with Carle (who has been fantastic) so that covers up a ton. Imagine if we had traditional d-pairings.. Would you want him on the ice with a Lilja or a Gussy? Hell even if we got Gill..
He scares the hell out of me. |

yea but he has a nice cap hit and he is still young he basically would be replacing what carle does just a bit more physical |

He would make more sense... His biggest problem is that he runs for hits and jumps into plays, but never gets back.. If he could be a bit more reserved with that (or just smarter) he would be a hell of an addition. It scares me that he is a -8 on the 3rd best defensive team.. |

Their offense is terrible tho. Dead last in the league in scoring. |

yea well id rather have jj for 4 mil or so for the next 6 years carle is gonna get around 6 mill and i think the flyers should stay away from that |

I could see him as a 3rd pairing 2nd PP guy right away and developing into a solid offensive top 4 dman down the road.
I honestly like the kid that much. - Buts16
Isn't that why we have Gustafsson? Same ceiling? |

Look at their defense, two guys are a +4, and the rest are even or minus. Johnson is -9 now. Look at it deeper. How can a defenseman who plays 22 minutes a game be so poor defensively, and yet the team is the 3rd best defensive team in the League? What else do you need to have a good +/-? Offense. LA is the worst 5 on 5 offensive team in the League. Think that contributes to +/-?

Not a bad thing if he replaces MAB or Gus. Not exactly what we need but still and upgrade and useful if Carle walks. I still have no idea who they are looking at. Probably someone that hasn't even been mentioned. |

With Kimmo in the twilight of his career, and Matt Carle a pending free agent; if the Flyers are going to make a big splash for a defenseman, I'd really like it to be for a "complete" two-way defenseman. Which Jack Johnson is not. |
