He does but I dont see him giving the Flyers a discount. If he would sign for what Coburn did I think he would be locked up. My guess is he will get around $5.5M and I dont know if the Flyers are willing to go that high yet. They may be in on Carle but see what his market value is (like Ville). If the price is too expensive they will move on imo. - stveshdy
a lot of time it's not the player that is pushing the price. yes they have say in it but their agent is filling their head with inflated prices.

I don't see Bernier going anywhere by the trade deadline. You don't trade good goalies before playoff runs. Or at least I think you shouldn't. |

Thats "IF" LA even makes the playoffs. - stveshdy
If LA is trading for Carter, they're doing so in an effort to make the playoffs and make as deep a run as they can.
Turning around and trading Johnson for a future pick would immediately render a trade for Carter useless. |

If that's the deal, the Kings don't need to move any money to make it work. - bradleyc4
Actually they would. See LA has about 1 million in cap space. Stoll and Bernier make 4.8. Carter makes 5.2... But remember, Now LA has to replace Bernier, and I bet they have to trade for someone as I dont think their prospects are ready... |

I hear what your saying. The problem players have is they forget that the agent works for them not the other way around. Some players are willing to take alittle less to stay in a place they like. |

Yeah, this is true. I can see Dallas coming back and knocking them out. It's not gonna get easier to score any goals late in the season after all. |

Out of the two, I hope Voracek is dangled before JVR. I'm not anti-Voracek, I believe his offensive game is similiar to Leino with more defensive upside. JVR hasn't a good year, but his offensive upside is a lot higher then Voracek. I still believe JVR can eventually get back to the player he was in the playoffs last year. I don't believe his performance was a fluke. Players like Schenn or Harry Z could eat up whatever minutes Voracek gets on the PK. |

I have no problem with that, as long as we are not giving LA a forward as the prospect. |

I havent looked at their roster so I dont know if they have a player who can replace him or not. I understand what your saying but LA has been a big disappointment the entire season so maybe their looking for a change. |

I'm just saying to step back and use common sense. If the Kings trade Stoll, Bernier and a first for Jeff Carter, they will not need to make a cap space move. They would have enough room to add another $3mm or so in full year cap hits after making that particular trade.
If they make that trade, it would obviously be to make the team stronger for a possible playoff run. That said, why would they turn around and make a trade that weakens the team in the immediate future? Especially when they can turn around and trade Johnson to recoup the draft pick at the draft?

LA's defense is stong enough to take a piece from it so they can add to the scoring... Just like the Flyers offense is deep enough to take a piece from it and add a Defenseman. |

Not exactly. If the prospect we're giving up is MAB or Gus and they turn around and get Carter then it's just a team (LA) giving up some defensive depth to get offensive help. Honestly they have the 3rd best GAA in the league and worst Goals For. It's not that crazy of an idea. |

That's understandable, but at the same time, why trade him for a pick? If you're adding Carter you're gearing up to be a better team in the playoffs. Even if there's somebody who can replace Johnson, why trade him for a pick now? He's not a FA, so you can do it later. No cap reasons to move him. |

Maybe they plan to add Voracek in the deal with a pick or Gus/MAB for Johnson. That way they would be adding more scoring to their lineup upfront. Like I said I have no idea if they have someone to replace Johnson bc I dont watch every single LA game. I understand what your trying to say though. That trade isnt necessary for cap space. |

they are pressured on all side:
the fans
the agent
NHLPA
just like Carter said a while back, we know the Flyers cap situation so we are going to be flexible because he wants to be here. He then demanded 5m and got it. Not saying it was all Carter's fault but still the Flyers cap situation stayed in CAP HELL.
if a player wants to stay then it's up to him to make it work. The players know or can find out the cap situation with any team. |

So the Kings are going to trade Bernier, Stoll and a 1st to Columbus for Carter.
And since they don't have another guy in their system that they trust as a back-up goalie, they're going to trade Jack Johnson for picks/prospects to create cap space so that they can trade another asset for a back-up goalie.
Got it. |

Suddenly Gus and MAB are 22 minute a night power play QB's?
It's not crazy, it's totally illogical. If they trade Bernier and Stoll for Carter, they addressed their need for scoring, and still have about $3mm in cap room. Why trade Johnson at that point for a 1st and a 6th defenseman? There's no need to at that point, you already added the scorer.
If you really want the first back, you can trade Johnson at the draft. He's not a pending FA |

My personal opinion is the Flyers arent willing to pay him $5.5M until they are confident that he is the best option for that price. If they could sign him to a deal that was alittle more than Coburns it would be done. |
