There's a lot of factors. I would agree with coaching being an issue, because Laviolette has had me scratching my head with some of the matchups he's gotten at home, when he has last change.
But it is more than that-look at the screen shot when it's 2-2. Kimmo Timonen is in no man's land and there's two Rangers in Bob's crease. That's not coaching, it's not rookies and it's not good fundamentals. We can cut Timonen some slack, but that's a bad play. - Jsaquella
and look at what coburn's doing in that same sequence. x-checking the center in the chest, while the winger is sending the puck through the middle to the far post. WTF is that?! timonen can female dog all he wants. they were two huge culprits today. just look at that (frank)ing picture. |

The schedule has done the Flyers no favors. The Red Wings on the second night of a back to back with travel, after facing a division rival the day before? That's a bit much. |

we're obviously getting rick nash. - flyfan1212
Nash in the orange and black would be NASTY. I would def trade JVR away if it meant we were getting nash. Nash/ schenn/ hartnell be one hell of a line. |

No excuses. Have to go into Detroit tomorrow and win the game. |

Yeah, that one made me guffaw.
Like last game when he left Lupul alone after Scotty pushed him.
How do you coach that out of a guy his age? |

I'm not expecting much tomorrow night. I don't think there is a team in the NHL in the Flyers skates that would win that game tomorrow night. |

And a little 19 game home winning streak. No Howard, but this McDonald kid has played pretty well. I'm hoping the Flyers will see Conklin, but I doubt they do. |

Somehow the Flyers played that pk like a 5-on 3. There was only one guy up (Read, who retreated a lot in everyone of the PKs anyway) and the other 3 were bunched up together down low. Whats up with that?
IN a lot of the pks their point guy were often able to walk in quite a bit, and in the ensuing panic, people left their men unguarded.
Read, Kimmo, Coburn, Meszy (that goadawful pass to Gusty that resulted in the Rangers 4rth goal) were awful today. I honestly don't think Bob was that bad. He probably should have had the first. The others would have required spectacular saves, and he made a couple of those. He was very far from the reason we lost. |

I would sign on for a shootout loss right now. At least that gets them a point. And you are right, those guys are sick in the shootout. |

It was a special teams fiasco, and a lack of discipline that did the Flyers in today. Even strength the Flyers were the better team. |

Me to. Instead they got Graham and Allen, which has been a disappointment. - stveshdy
Allen can be a player in this league. Graham is just another Mcdougle, Green, Abiamiri, etc. Hopefully this new secondary coach is better. I don't know whose idea it was to have Asomugha play so much zone last year. It was effin ridiculous. Samuel HAS to go. |

Were they better, really? I don't know. Rangers always seem to be in control, they let the Flyers run around, waste all their energy getting the puck back to the point so Lundqvist can see the one timer. When its time to step on the Flyers throats, they do just that. |

At 2-2 the Flyers had the better of the play imo, they got behind 3-2 on a brutal PK, then in the third period frustration set in, and the wheels fell off. The Rangers had less than 5 legit scoring chances at even strength in the game. |

Last year was the first win in Detroit in forever. Since 88' I believe. Flyers have had success against Detroit in Philly recently. Wings are unbeatable at home right now, it would take a Hurculean effort to compete tomorrow night. |

Whether the team is having a retooling year or not is irrelevant to the expectations that the organization, coaches, and players set for the team. the goal every year is the same, especially in a town like a Philly. A perfect example is how the flyers "retooled" after the dreaded 06-07 season and went from last to 6th in the conference and would have been higher if it wasn't for a ten game losing streak. this city, this team does not take defeat lightly and I feel that the losing streak against NYR is killing them mentally. Everyone's looking for answers and people to blame and that hasn't been working the last 7? 8? meetings against this team. I feel the constant fighting with NYR has gotten this team no where and perhaps has helped NYR b/c they're getting the results they want out of it. The Flyers seem to be fighting for the right reasons (Light a spark, etc.) but the goals and solid D hasn't followed, which makes dropping the gloves pointless. |
