I know that you don't typically mention refs calls. But, you got to admit the call resulting form sestito fight was a mood altering event that swung the mo to the Rangers. They were playing from a hole the rest of the game. I give them credit to come backs from 0-1, 1-2.
A penalty is a penalty. Most of the time you get a bad call, you'll get one in your favor later. But this one was bad. The Flyers are a bit fragile in the confidence department.
I assume the refs get reviewed by the NHL. But is there ever any out come for the team that received the bad call. Id be surprise if that ref made it out of Philly. - leon neon
Bad calls happen to every team. It's just part of it. You have to kill penalties. The Flyers easily lead the League in PP opportunities. So it isn't like the Flyers don't get calls. The Flyers had 4 PP opportunities and didn't take advantage. The Rangers took advantage of their opportunities. |

Some of the stuff read last night, oh boy. One response after every single loss is that the defenseman aren't good enough. Every single loss is on the defenseman. Even blaming the one defenseman back on a 2 on 1 against. - MJL
It's gets to be ridiculous. The worst part is, people seem to think a trade magically fixes everything. Luke Schenn's a talented kid with a bright future, but he's still just a 22 year old kid, who has his own consistency issues.
Even getting a Shea Weber isn't a cure all-because the assets you'd have to give weaken the other areas of the team. The inconsistent play needs to get better regardless of who they add via a trade |

I was reading on Espn that the rangers are interested in Nash and that could be why howson was at the game yesterday |

Game was typical of Chris Lee, and he's not the one responsible for the Flyers' 28th-ranked home PK or the fact they gave up 3 PPG to a Rangers team that has been awful on the power play this year.
I'll also add that Flyers had their own share of PP opportunities yesterday and came up empty.

Howson met with Holmgren yesterday, although I'm sure that Howson was looking at the Rangers as well as the Flyers.
I think the Rangers would be looking at a defenseman before another winger. Dan Girardi's playing 27+ a night, they need more depth back there. |

Perhaps, although if Sather was at the game, he was nowhere to be seen.

i swear the flyers are a different team at home during the weekends then they are on the week days..... I have been to pretty much every home weekday game this yr (thank you stubhub) and have seen first hand how much better they play. Is it the crowd? I mean the games are usually well over 75% filled, compared to weekend games...or is it the opponents they have faced? Minus the preds the last 2 months the flyers have not exactly played the best teams at home during the weekdays.. |

I think everyone forgets this is a rebuilding year. We weren't expected to be where we are. Trading for schenn wouldn't be to fix this year it would be a move for the future I don't know why everyone expects a cup this year cuz I don't if we stat the course we can have multiple cups down the road |

Signing Bryz and Jagr wasn't a rebuilding year |

Actually signing a vet to a one year contract to mentor the young guys is part of a rebuild. And Snider wanted a goalie so he got one |

Signing Bryz and Jagr wasn't a rebuilding year - Scottie Upshall
One thing has nothing to do with another. Jagr was brought in to add experience to a younger forward corps. Bryz was signed long-term to solve an ongoing problem. Meanwhile, rebuilding the defense was a long-term project, with the hope that Pronger would hold up a little longer and rest of D was good enough while young forwards were developing.

I think Retooling is a better word for it. They still have the goal of winning the Stanley Cup this year, but at the same time, there's got to be understanding of what the combined result of the moves, the injuries and everything else is-a very young team, relying heavily on rookies and young veterans that are learning how to play at the NHL level.
If it was a true rebuild, you don't sign Bryzgalov, you try to move Timonen and Pronger and Briere, you trade for picks and prospects and expect to take lumps. |

There's any number of guys he could be interested in.
EDIT. I could see Columbus liking a guy like Read, or even Coburn or Meszaros, too.
As for the other way, I could see the Flyers having interest in some of the Jackets depth players, like Pahlsson. I like Fedor Tyutin, but his contract isn't that attractive. Marc Methot, prior to shattering his jaw was intriguing, too |

Agreed... My point was that "one" seemed to be mess with there confidence more than most. The Flyers really needed/wanted that win. The Flyers has had a tough schedule. The game was 0-0, with a Rangers team that is difficult to score on and hold leads.... Even Briere got an extra call - I assume that was from calling the extra 2 on Sestito "BS". |

why does it seem like 90% of the opposing teams the flyers play each game are the best in the nhl right now or undefeated for two years if they have a lead for more than 8.2 seconds or they have won 92 in a row or so on and so on... |

Yea I agree it's like rebuilding but staying a contender....I was just saying if they made a move for schenn. It wouldn't be to fix this year it would be a move to rebuild the d corps we need some young dman cause the future don't look to good for our d |

That's the thing with Lee...he calls everything. He's one of those refs that thinks making a ton of calls keeps a game from getting out of hand. The Flyers have to know who is reffing and play accordingly, especially when it comes to shenanigans. |

Signing Bryz and Jagr wasn't a rebuilding year - Scottie Upshall
Have you seen the length of Bryz contract... That could fall into the rebuilding plans
Even with rebuilding Teams - you need to fill the seats. When Homer traded Carter and Richards... I don't know if Jagr was in the plans. Their was probably a slot for an experienced UFA. Jagr seemed to have fallen into their laps. |
