Kronwall's hit was great. I'd like to see more Flyers apply those kind of checks.
My point on Rinaldo was the 'distance traveled' aspect of the charging rule. - tangent_man

My two eyes are the evidence. I see soft as a marshmallow play from him constantly. Everyone all year has said the d-core has been awful, well you already have Meszaros and Coburn locked up, does it make sense to lock up another guy who has been part of the defensive struggles? - PLindbergh31
I think Carle is gone. Just a gut feeling. Coburn was higher on priority list to get signed. |

7 for suter? ehhhhh as much as i would like to the highest id go is 5-6.25 - Flyers4Life88
If it's between 5 for Carle and 7 for Suter I'll gladly go for Suter. 3-4 guys shouldn't be making 5 mil, especially when we already have Mezzy and Coburn. No need to pay that much for Carle. |
|
|
|
I would prefer to spend 6.5 mil on Suter, too. But to get to that point, you have to let Carle walk first, and then hope that Suter signs. If not, you're without both guys, and then overpaying for a lesser free agent, or trading valuable assets to acquire a like defenseman. - bradleyc4
It's a game of chicken. Sometimes you get burned. There are some other solid UFA d-men out there. Guys like Boychuk. |

Edmonton gave Sutton an 1-year extension, so he's out of the running.
I like Boychuk's game.

Agreed. Spending around 5 million for guys who aren't top pairing guys is a gamble. I would rather spend extra on a guy who can play on a top pairing. |

I agree with you. The Flyers will explore other options that are better than Carle. So Suter is a must have this offseason. |

So do I. There is a chance the Bruins lock him up before he becomes a UFA, but there are guys out there.
Heck Dennis Wideman is a UFA, he's had a better year than Carle. |

Or Coburn will be dealt since resigning with the flyers is the kiss of death |

Yeah but wideman is gonna ask for like 5, so why not just break the bank for the tandem down in nashvile |

I dont look at players bc of numbers and minutes. You have to find a player that fits into the mold that your trying to create. I would take Boychuk and Grossman if they fit what the Flyers want to do. Sometimes you can have too many of the same defenseman, need to have a good mix. |

Weber isn't a realistic option imo, but I believe Suter should be the top priority come July 1. |

Yep. I think the Flyers may offer a lowball contract, but with timonen messy and Coburn under contract, barring a trade, Carle is odd man out. Could be wrong though. Hard to tell what homer will do. |

Suter is an upgrade, but still not sure If he's why we need, especially at the price he will command. |

Wouldnt surprise me at all if Homer trades for Suters rights at the draft. Then try and sign him before he even hits the market. Homer doesnt sit back and wait when he wants something. |

Carle will walk. It's just too much money into the 3-4/5-6 spots. There is almost no way the Flyers can be a playoff team if they don't land the biggest UFA D man either this year or next. You cant even make a good offer if you pay Carle. |
