Suter is an upgrade, but still not sure If he's why we need, especially at the price he will command. - funmaster18
He immediately becomes the best d-man on the team, and gives the Flyers a legit top pairing guy. What more can you ask for? |

Wouldnt surprise me at all if Homer trades for Suters rights at the draft. Then try and sign him before he even hits the market. Homer doesnt sit back and wait when he wants something. - stveshdy
Yeah, the one thing I know about Homer is he doesn't usually wait around. |

Yeah but wideman is gonna ask for like 5, so why not just break the bank for the tandem down in nashvile - Flyers4Life88
Sure, it will take about 16 million for the two of them. With the amount of players we have to get rid of to fit that we will be Columbus East before you know it.

Weber is an RFA, he isn't going anywhere.

Just not eager to sign another huge contract. |

Agreed. And Timonens deal ends after next year so Suter contract takes over that cap hit. I dont mind spending that kind of cash on a legit #1 defenseman. |

Let's get malkin and Rinne while we are at it. We'd be a lock for the cup GID Homer |

It would take more than that. A lot more. - PLindbergh31
Columbus is not in a position to haggle, in regards to Carter. Howson didn't exactly play his cards right, with several credible sources proclaiming Carter absolutely will not be a Blue Jacket by Feb. 28th.
Not suggesting the Rangers will acquire him for bag of pucks, but the Rangers are in a position to not grossly overpay for a player like Carter.
Dubinsky, a first and probably another prospect would get it done. |

So we pass up on Suter in the hopes Weber becomes a UFA? No thanks. Get Suter and sign psychical guys for the 5/6 spots. Problem solved. |

IF Nashville lets Suter walk or trades his rights, there is NO chance that Weber will be available. Their not going to lose both players. |

How do we get Weber? We can trade half the team for him. Or offer sheet him and give up 4 first round picks.
Either way, at 16 or 14, you will lose much of the depth this team is developing and basically become Nashville, a team with 2 great defenseman and no chance to ever win a cup.

You got the WC jersey. Nice. You sleeping in your gear during this 3-day downtime? Trying to psych yourself up for the push?
Someone (not a Flyer I don't think) I heard this weekend was talking about how this is a hard time of the year to play. Once you pass the trade deadline you're in the home stretch and can really smell the playoffs so it's easier to bear down.
It makes sense but it's also really annoying. And I'm tired of this midwinter lull thing we get with the Flyers. |

Problem is if you trade for his rights you lose assets as well as over pay. I thu go for him I'd rather wait until FA. I'm pretty sure he already said he will test the market and not negotiate with just 1 team. |

The Rangers should pull the trigger if thats all Columbus wants. The upgrade is worth it. |

Well to get top players in their prime, there is no other choice. Suter is a minimal risk to sign to a long term deal. He's as safe a signing as there can be. He's 27, and he's only missed around 30 games in 7 years, so there isn't much of an injury history. |

Good plan. Complaining about those contracts should give HB critical mass on hits for the next 6-8 years! |

I dont know whats going to happen. I would like the Flyers to sign Suter and Grossman or Boychuk. If that means we have to trade another defenseman/forward do it. |

But as we've seen with Pronger, one concussion incident is all you need. He had no history of concussions and....blatto! All our concerns about his being older and the nagging little things (knee, wrist) turned out to be completely unimportant when measured against one noggin incident. |
