actually with the right back end technology it's very easy and lightweight - 2Real

So you're saying you would rather be a young team with growing pains now then sell off the farm for a short fix? Good call for Philly, but that is really simplifying the Rags IMHO. Lundquist is playing better then anyone else, they are getting secondary scoring, their top players are playing like their top players, they traded or convinced players to retire from the many bloated contracts they had, etc..
In short, it is a long conversation and yes they were patient with a young D man (which we don't seem to be able to do- although Coburn?) and I hope we can be patient with our youth. - coffee junkie
Except for Dubinsky, who is either having an off year or has regressed to the mean.
And even now they have games that are full of growing pains. Not as often as the Flyers do. But if you look at last year, they certainly stumbled quite a bit. This year they stumble, pick themselves up, brush themselves off, and start all over again. |

Well, people want to compare the Flyers to the Rangers, and look what they did-went out and retooled their team, they were patient with guys like Del Zotto and got rewarded. - Jsaquella

A lot of the Rangers key pieces are home grown, or were acquired as prospects and allowed to grow, without being dumped for big ticket outsiders.
I'm sure that Sather resisted urges to move guys like Callahan, Dubinsky and Girardi at times for bigger names, but he didn't. I want Holmgren to do the same. |

I keep Lavy right now. He would go only after a minor player trade if it got that desperate. Quinville? Doesn't do much for me. I like the idea of a defensive specialist. This team has the firepower to make a stingy system work. |

The biggest dufus move anyone can make is to judge any player based on a good game or two or a bad game or two. Need to look at the full body of work to make sense of it. |

Dubinsky was plauged by a bad start himself and good starts by Anisimov and others, plus adding Richards. |

Dubinsky is the guy the Rangers fans are most annoyed with this season. They were annoyed with Richards, but understood there's an adjustment. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the one cheering for trading our youth....unless more youth is on the way and it makes sense. It is a young mans sport and they come cheaper with the cap. Schenn, JVR, Jake, and Couts are a strong pillar. Would like to say the same for our D. I was actually thinking today how well Homer did in his deals for Carter and Richards. This year will hurt a bit with inconsistency but overall, Brilliant! |

I'm not against moving young forwards for young defensemen. Or do the reverse of what the Rangers did-the Rangers augmented their forwards with their big FA signings(Gaborik, Richards) the Flyers can use kid forwards and sign FA defensemen.

Sure, we are saying the same thing. If you need to move a F for a young D then fill an organizational need but it has to make sense in the long term as well.
Live with the youth headaches now so it will payoff down the road!
I'm off to enjoy the nature with the running. peace. |
