Sure, we are saying the same thing. If you need to move a F for a young D then fill an organizational need but it has to make sense in the long term as well.
Live with the youth headaches now so it will payoff down the road!

Have a good run. I'm staying inside, it's cold and I hurt my foot skating yesterday. |

I keep Lavy right now. He would go only after a minor player trade if it got that desperate. Quinville? Doesn't do much for me. I like the idea of a defensive specialist. This team has the firepower to make a stingy system work. - coffee junkie
I really think there is a big challenge here for Laviolette. For both this year and the future. I've stated a number of times that I'm not the biggest fan of his style of play. I think it far too aggressive. But that's just a personal choice. Any style of play can work if it's executed. But he has to get this team playing the right way. Not just for this Season, but for the future as well. And I haven't seen any evidence in the last month or so of that happening. I'm pro Coach. Always have been. I believe that players make Coaches look good, and look bad. But I'd like to see some strategy adjustments to reign this team in. Because the players haven't shown a commitment to team defense and puck support. And it's not just the kids. It's the veterans also. So sometimes a Coach needs to put some leashes on a team so to speak, to get them to think more about the defensive side of the puck. And have that mindset like the best teams do. To have that mindset that they aren't going to be out manned on the puck. That they're going to get the puck deep. That they aren't going to glide on the back check, or remain stationary and watch the play happen in front of you in the defensive zone. I don't see that mindset or that pride on both sides of the puck. That's a change that needs to be made down the stretch. |

But as little patience as we think the Flyers have with young D, this fanbase has even less. And a much less realistic view of what levels and styles of play you'll get out of your top 6/7 guys night to night. |

That's my biggest criticism of Laviolette. I see no attempts at adjustments for the team's poor defensive play. If the players don't want to do their work defensively, then it's up to the coach to adjust. We've seen them do it at times. |

Just not my thing. I'm avoiding reading The Hunger Games trilogy because it is too dystopian. I'll probably see the movie.
I can handle depressing for a couple of hours (or 10 hours) but to be immersed in it for many days or even weeks in a series of very long novels isn't for me. - bodiva88
AHhh. I can tell you its far from depressing. Action filled, layers of deceit to untangel and, at points, throw the book against the wall infuriating....it'll grab you. |

The biggest dufus move anyone can make is to judge any player based on a good game or two or a bad game or two. Need to look at the full body of work to make sense of it. - bodiva88

I'm with you. It starts with nailing a giroux or a briere's ass to the bench when the attention to detail isn't there defensively. The bad penalties have crept back into their game again. It comes from being on the wrong side of the puck and reaching not skating.

giroux would be well served playing w/ a better 2 way winger at this point. |

D prime is 26-33, roughly. Guys who really reach peak earlier than that are few and far between. And of course, going much past that means you're either really good and have avoided serious injury or you're a 6-7 character guy who isn't expected to contribute a lot. But I'd expect guys 25-26 to be signing the serious deal of their careers and to be expected to be at their best for the length of that contract. |

And I feel that comes with the injuries in January getting them all discombobulated. Now they're all pressing for offense and the defensive discipline is suffering. It's not just one thing. Everything seems to be out of whack. I'm hoping having three days to really practice will help a bit. |

Yeah. He was favoring the left shoulder it looked like when he came off. Just an awkward hit. |
