I was shaking my head at Coburn last night, I was hoping the Flyers could reverse the Zhitnik/Coburn trade at one point. - Buts16
I was at the game last night. I thought Coburn played in fear of Datsyuk every time they were on the ice together. |

Its amazing that the Flyers have tried every route possible to try and shore up that position, and nothing seems to work. - Gunner Staal
Well a half a season of poor play from Bryzgalov doesn't mean he isn't the answer. Still have to give him the rest of this year, and all of next year to see if he is the solution. |

It was a rough weekend. Last night was a bit of a tease but moving forward, we should be just fine. The deadline is around the corner, so there isn't much to worry about. I'm not so sure this is our final roster of the season. - roenick97

The team would come first if the player asks to be traded. What you get back in return should help bolster the roster. Why would the Flyers want to keep a player who asks to be traded? I get the point that it screams their sellers but the chances of winning the cup are very slim with or without him. The confidence of this team is already on a downslide whether Timonen is here or not. We obviously have different opinions on the situation. I dont condone trading Timonen unless he comes into Homers office and asks to be. - stveshdy
If they're trading Timonen, it will be to a team that is a serious contender for the Stanley Cup. Serious contenders are not that likely to deal a ton off their roster, even to add Timonen, so you are likely looking at landing more kids and picks, and not a guy who can replace Timonen as the team's top defenseman or a guy who can immediately step in as a top line forward.
The absolute last thing you want with a team full of young players who, despite their recent struggles, are still in the thick of the playoff race is to strip even more confidence from them. Telling this group now that you don;t have any faith in them could have long term repercussions.

I remember a Flyers team dominating a Buffalo Sabres team back in 2001 or 02. Beat them all 4 times during the regular season, shut them out maybe 3 of those 4 times to boot.
They were matched up in the first round of the playoffs. Seemed like an easy sweep, one soft goal later by Cechmanik and the series was over in 5 games with an 8-1 beatdown.
Playoffs are a different beast. I want them to beat the Rags and every team for that matter but this is still a 4th seeded team playing 8 rookies and without their top defenseman.
I think they'll right the ship. As others have pointed out, they need better defensive play with the forwards helpding out. A win here and there can go a long way.
Go Flyers. |

GEEZU Bryz did just post a shutout, but i forgot it doesn't count cause he only faced 17 shots, and he did go through a stretch of 8 games where he allowed more than one goal twice- both against Rags and Bruins hmm. Either way he's been an improvement over what the tandem they had last year. - JoeRussomanno
I don't deny him that, however given the length and price of the deal I am sure there are Flyer fans that are uneasy about his consistency thus far.
I think when the Flyers made that aggressive move they would have liked to have gotten more consistency from that position. I mean I know its just a regular season game, but the fact he was benched for the Winter Classic is kind of a microcosm of his tenure thus far.
I'm not saying he won't turn it around, I'm just saying there have been more questions then I think the Flyers wanted when signing him to that deal. |

Just look at the flyers and how many times they mopped the floor with teams in the regular season then were shown the door in the playoffs. The cup ain't won in February. - JoeRussomanno
If you make the playoffs anything can happen but the likelihood of the Flyers winning is shrinking imo. At some point you need to start playing consistent hockey and defensively the Flyers are a mess. If they can figure out a way to change that, then ill change my opinion of their chances. |

On a bright note, Talbot is living up to his deal so far, which I thought would be tough to do. |

Im not condoning trading Timonen. He would have to ask to be traded. I would still think he lands you a decent package. I also dont think the Flyers move him unless the team is heading in the wrong direction in the next few weeks. Meaning from the 4th seed to the 8th seed (and him asking to be traded). |

I disagree with that....Ever see the front of our net? its like a comfort inn. I want to see someone change that. - Philly1980
You don't need to hit people to help in that regard. They need to have a better presence there, but "crease Clearing" isn;t the same as it was a few years ago. Now you need guys who can keep opposing forwards from sitting on your goalie's lap and keep them out of the crease when the goalie is battling for rebounds.
Getting a big hitter doesn't do that. |

my Sunday morning goalie is great
3 weeks ago he let in 10 goals in game, we average giving up 2.5 which in beer league hockey is amazing. In the last 6 games he's given up 1,0,0,10,5,1 respectively.
I have decided all goalies are loons and you just never know what's going to happen. |

we're like what an 18th of the way through the deal? Flyer fans are fickle over any goalie and will look for any reason to female dog about anything. The deal is fine just wish they din't have that NMC on it too. |

I don't think they move him, even if he asks, before the draft. I also don't think Timonen would sabotage the season if he's unhappy or doesn't think they can win. |

I do agree with you, you gotta do everything you can to stop him and not play in fear which is easy to say from my couch |
