Apparently Kypreos is reporting Vancouver is the front runner for Carter.
Carter for Raymond and Ballard?
Then flip Carter in a package for a top 4 dman... |

Sure that sounds good for a playoff run, but christ, that would be the last player we would be able to sign for the next 5 years. The top six is signed for years, especially with the acquisition of Booth and his contract, not to mention Lou's albatross. I have to believe Gillis has a plan, hopefully that involves a defenseman and some depth for the fourth. Not to mention the fact that trading Ballard furthers are need for defense. I doubt picking up Carter to trade makes anything easier, unless a plan is already in place with another team.

People b!itch about having Luongo locked up for 12 years and then not living up to his contract. Could you imagine how much heat Carter would get?

I think you're spot on when you say the Canucks efforts seem to match their opponents talent level. They know they've got the NW in the bag, the only time they seem to turn it on is when they have to...thus all the overtime games as of late. |

You have to think they are conserving energy for the stretch run to the playoffs. All they need to be is healthy for the playoffs. They have the talent and the drive, nobody should even question it. After losing a heartbreaking Game 7, you have to believe they all want to be back there to force a different outcome. |

I didn't realize Brule ever played for the Flames. |

Oh yah, And AV is an idiot for not playing Hodgson in OT the other night. Guy has a knack for scoring big goals, and he rides the pine. What a joke. |

At least Mason Raymond and his Corsi played 90% of the overtime. |

I actually made a comment on this on Saturday. Kypreos made that comment during one of the intermissions of the Calgary game. We all pretty much laughed it off. I like Carter and it's a decent cap hit, but the contract runs for too damn long.
Of all the rumoured players available or possibly available, only 1 player stands out to me: Teemu Selanne. Given his UFA status this summer and obvious impact ability, if MG can somehow swing it for a reasonable return I'd be doing cartwheels up and down Robson St. Who knows if he's available but I could only see him leaving ANA for a realistic cup contender which VAN clearly is. |

Do you also notice that, even though his last SO shot was a game winner, AV almost never rolls Cody Franchise during the SOs? It's not like we have a bunch of dekers like DET lined up in front of him... |

I'm a bit puzzled by it to. I think it's something like pucks derected at the goal for vs against.
Kind of a super complicated +\-

Edler hit the post, Burrows scored and Raymond had the highest corsi on the night. How could he not pick them? |

It's not just last night but a number of SO nights where Coho has been omitted. And I'm not sure what Corsi has to do with one-on-one penalty shot ability. |

It's an equation that turns your worst players into your best players. |

Corsi Number
"Corsi number is the number of shots directed towards the net while the player is on the ice. The number can be broken down into whose net the shots are directed towards (their own net (-) and their opponent's net (+)) similar to the plus minus statistic. The hope of course is that the Corsi plus minus would correlate well with the regular plus minus, but because the numbers will be 16x larger than plus minus numbers they'll be about 4x more accurate than the plus minus numbers."

Well that at least partly explains why Raymond is always firing weak wrist shots from just inside the other team's blue line.

So, what it really is, in layman's terms, is more statistical bullsh!t. |
