Rooting for Hemsky to Montreal and Penner to Toronto. That would be hilarious. - Oneonta Penguin
Why would Penner to Toronto be hilarious? I don't know where this idea that he has some kind of onerous contract comes from (he's a pending UFA) and he sure as hell won't cost a lot to get (maybe a 3rd or 4th-rounder) and you even might be able to dump off a contract to LA while you're at it. |

I still think there a very good chance that the Senators roll the dice and sell at the deadline. Spezza would fetch a very large return. Neil, Kuba Michalek and Gonchar would also provide the Senators an opportunity to duplicate their superb draft of last year.
The Senators are still two to three years away. I believe the Senators went into this season thinking they might deal Spezza at the deadline. It would be so very exciting if they followed through. I realize expectations have changed since the season started. |

Why add an underachieving player to your third line? Toronto's top two lines have been playing pretty well.. Penner would only see minutes with bad players... |

Sens would get just as much for Spezza in the summer as they would tomorrow. It would be foolish to deal him now.

You can hope being a fan of an opposing team.. but Ottawa is in the playoffs right now... Why mess something up that is working??
I know I would want Buffalo first in line to try to get Spezza.. |

Oh, I don't want him, but I don't think the possibility is as outrageous as some are making it out to be. |

It won't take much. My sources tell me Hitchcock hates black people and will run him out of town the first chance he gets.
Or if my sources are wrong, we'll take him for whatever he wants once he becomes UFA. - 1979AD
You need new sources. Stewart will be RFA @ end of this year. |

The Bruins will have to make a move if Horton does not improve by the deadline. There is no Tyler Seguin in the press box this year, Caron and Hamill have been complete garbage. I'm really not sure if the Bruins have much to offer if they refuse to trade a roster player and Hamilton is off limits.
I wouldn't limit the Bruins to pending UFA's, Chiarelli took Kelly and Peverly last year when they both had yrs left on their deals. I just don't see the Bruins going all the way without defensive depth and a replacement for Horton. |

i had the same opinion of him when he was in edm.
now though, i wouldn't want him for free. it's not that his contract is particularly onerous... it's that he's a waste of a roster spot 8 out every 10 games. |

Penner is TERRIBLE. Why someone would want him is beyond me.
Put it this way, Richard Park has the same amount of goals as does Penner in five less games. He has two less points than does Penner. That should put things in perspective for you. |

I'd shut down Horton for the year and not risk it. That really is probably the best option.

God dammit, I wish Burke hired Hitchcock.

He's not terrible. He's lazy and unmotivated. There's a difference. He's got a ton of talent and if somebody can light a fire under his ass, I think it can come back.
He's made $4.5 mill. a season on his current deal. He sure as hell won't be getting that this summer. A move from LA to a team looking to make a playoff run might be his best chance to salvage his career and make himself attractive to teams this summer. |

There is no rationale you can put together pointing to the Sens moving Speeza. No way does it happen.
