My question is:
Why are the so much better this year? Experience? Coaching/system? - stveshdy
Their forwards play outstanding team defense, and provide excellent (and consistent) puck support. Result? The defense looks great this year. Their forwards were not playing as well, nor as consistently last year.
Granted, both Del Zotto and McDonaugh have made strides in their games as well, but the play of the forwards and the overall commitment to team defense is what is keeping the Rangers at the top of the league.
Oh, and they have some guy named Lundqvist or something like that who is also pretty good. Although he was good last year too, so I'm not sure he's as big a part of the overall team improvement as the forward/team defensive play is. |

That about covers it. I watch a bunch of their games, since I have MSG, and the center ice package offers very few HD games. But every game of theirs looks the same. Very few mistakes, limited turnovers, zero soft goals allowed. Pretty simple formula. |

I would not be surprised that the Flyers are involved. They have loved Nash since his draft year. Just not sure it makes a lot fo sense. |

i have no idea what the Flyers would give up in a deal for Nash, but I don't like the thought of it at all. |

I always expect the Flyers to call and check in on the situation but I can't see how it would work, that would require too many moving parts. |

I sort of wish it did make some sense, but as you say, the reality is that it really doesn't at this time |

That's the problem. I think one of them would have to be involved.
Figure Bob would be involved, along with one of them. Probably would like Read, too. |

The Kings are averaging 2.06 goals per game. Have to think they are desperate for offense, and would be willing to overpay.
Richards has some ridiculous 1 goal in his last 22 games or something like that. He's been brutal. |

They have to get Columbus to take one of Bryz or Briere.
I would love Nash though.
edit wasn't it reported the Flyers want a true number one player like Crosby or Ovie? |

Bob, Jvr, + something else?
Nash would sure mess up their salary cap structure. |

He was scoring almost a point per game before his concussion in early December. |

those 2 alone probably do not clear enough cap space. |

The Flyers are second in goals per game, and 24th in goals against, not sure why Nash would even be on their radar. |

Two reasons-one he's a huge splash deal. Two, he's a guy they have coveted for the past ten years. |
