not what i read either way it isnt alot - Slammed81
Where have you read this at? Because one of the biggest issues being discussed is the League looking to lower the players share from 57% to around 50%. That would most certainly lower the Cap.

So in a few years your sitting with Nash and Giroux taking up 16 million or more in cap space when G signs his deal. - Flyers2821
The Pens certainly felt comfortable enough giving that much cap space to Crosby and Malkin. Also, do you think Giroux has that much of an ego, he has to have the highest contract per year on the team? I personally don't, I would expect the Flyers to frontload his deal to lessen the cap hit just like the Flyers have done in the past. I think the two contracts will eat up between 14-15 million is my guess.

sigh, everyone knows Nash can score, we're not disputing that...he has scored 30+ goals several times in his career. To classify him as a top player I would say the following has to be looked at:
1.) Points Per Game needs to be ~1+
2.) Takes care of the puck/plays well defensively
3.) Can carry a team
4.) Scores Big Goals
I don't think Nash fits that bill. The only thing that makes him look like a top player is his salary. He takes shifts off, is lazy in his own end, and is overpaid. - flyers20032002
My main beef with comment was Gaborik..... dont tell me Gabby is good defensively.. can he carry a team im not to sure will see this year in the playoffs |

a clear notch above - isaiah520
Gaborik has had an injury ridden career masking his talent. He has better numbers than Nash and played in a similar environment with the wild. Go check the numbers and get back to me. |

When healthy, Crosby and Malkin are the top two players in the NHL. Giroux is on the verge of that level, Nash will NEVER be close to that level.

Gaborik has improved immensely in his own end. Part of that can be attributed to Torts system, go look at Gabs +/- this year. |

Am I the only one who thinks Bobby Ryan would be the absolute ideal fit with G? His cap hits nearly 3 mill less than Nash and you could overpay for him to get him out of Anaheim and you'd give up less. Not to mention, I am sure as a NJ native and a Flyers fan growing up he would be PUMPED to come to Philly.
Maybe I am crazy, but he seems like the absolute ideal fit to get G a legit goal scorer for the future. - Flyers2821
Ryan would be a solid player to add. But were not hearing talk of him being moved right now, or being available like it is with Nash now. And I'd personally just stick with JVR.

injury ridden career isnt an excuse my point is look at his numbers last year and look at his numbers this year unless u think B.Richards has nothing to do with pt increase |

Made up? I have center ice and have watched at least 10 CBJ games this year because I was curious as to how Carter would play. How is that made up? It's an observation... |

Gaborik is an offensive player on a defensive team. He's a very good player. But so is Nash. I'd take either on my team.

He was injured 3-4 different times last year and couldn't get anything going. He doesn't even play with B Richards...LOL. |

It's made up when you start talking about being lazy and taking shifts off, and all that other nonsense. Not what Nash's reputation is. He's been the franchise player in Columbus and is the team Captain.

Nash is a very talented hockey player but that cap hit is very high priced. Not many players in the league are on Crosby/Malkin level. |

You are basing his reputation off what? The biased media in Columbus who are trying to tout someone as a star player? Go watch the games then...how many CBJ have you watched in the last 2-3 years?

Exactly. If Nash's cap hit was not so overpriced, I'd be 100% in board with bringing him in, but Columbus gave him a monster deal and to me that makes him extremely unappealing. |

Nothing to do with the Media. I've watched enough of Nash to know that your claims are unsubstantiated.
