Nice. I like the sound of this......Everyday I wait for something to happen. Even if it's a rumor...at least there's a name involved. The team needs some shaking up. - _diatribe_
There are too many holes on this team, it is not a contender. Enjoy the remainder of this season, they will pull out of this. Bowman will make a few minor deals that may help. I'm off to get ready to watch my Hawks lay it on the line tonight and get a big win. GO HAWKS!! |

What if they got Nash for Hammer, Stalberg, top prospect, #1 pick.
Then traded Sharp for Jack Johnson plus some more grit from LA? Or another separate trade involving Sharp.
Pure speculation, but the possibilities are so interesting!!! |

Wow....do we have 7.8 million reasons until 2017-18 to do this deal?

Why would Bowman create more holes in his lineup to trade for a player who fills no holes. If you are going to make drastic changes to the lineup it is better done on or before the draft, when more teams are involved. - hawksbuzz
Apparently the Hawks (along with many hockey people) think Nash is a superstar. He immediately makes the Hawks tougher to defend below the circles, onthe power play and in playoff hockey situations.
If you think he's overrated or a slug, I can tell you, I've seen him play a lot more than most and that is not the case.
You have to give to get. And I would bet therefore, Bowman has other plans in the works if he gets lucky here, as I don't think he is the frontrunner. Still, I believe the Hawks are making (or made) a serious and considerable offer.

I doubt Pitt would trade Malkin for any player in the league except maybe Toews. |

I take a day off from HB for my blood pressure's sake and come back to this?
I really hope at least the rumors are true. Even if the Hawks don't make a deal for Nash, it shows that Stan has more guts than I imagined he did. |

Would say that the Hawks would be a better team with Nash (7.8), minus whoever goes the other way, than we were with Campbell (7.1)? |

Correct me if I'm wrong but did you not say that the Hawks Management told Bowman under no circumstances was he to add any more long term contracts, only expiring ones! Nash would be a nice addition, but so would a second line center, a 3-4 dman and a goaltender. These are huge holes, does Nash fill them? Adding another top end contract can only further weaken the depth. |

I know, the point I was trying to make was that at least Malkin would fill a hole. If Nash was a first line center he wouldn't be on the trade block! |

Maybe after yesterday's organizational meetings things changed. |

Fills no holes? Serious? Really?!
Power LW'er? On a line with 19/81? Really now?!
In a vacuum, this will not be done. There are other deals to be made. I am skeptical of how they'd manage a slightly heavier top-scale salary structure but for a guy like that, it'd have to be considered. |

If there was such a meeting it would only have been to reaffirm they are staying the coarse. Q's endorsement would leave me to believe so. |

Only if I was 98% certain I could acquire 1-2 other players in a separate deal. And then, yes, I would. Could be a great deal for both teams. - John Jaeckel
>That's good news
>$$$ aside, I'm guessing that the braintrust has decided that this core and team is just too comfortable with itself
>I would love to see a speeding steamroller with soft hands wearing the Indianhead
>Hungry players win -- whether that hunger is for a first-time championship or for another -- it's the hungry player that wins |

Thats a nice line, although Sharp would do the trick. Now with what you gave up what is left? A Black Hole!!!! 20 mill on one line, one third your payroll? |

As a division rival, along with Detroit, the Hawks will have to pay a larger premium than others to acquire Nash. It has been a fun exercise, but in the end CLB will use offer to extort more from others.
I do not doubt the offer is real, or that the Hawks are very interested, just think probability is small for Hawks.
Not to pee on anyones parade. |

I'll give you this. If what I hear the Hawks offered is true, then Columbus would get two guys who give them elements they don't currently really have. They'd get another guy who could be a superstar in 3-4 years (or at least a decent NHL player), and they'd get another guy who is boom or bust (but more likely bust).
Basically, the hawks have offered at least three guys who are good to very good NHL players now or in the future. And there could be picks involved.
The Hawks could afford it under the cap and yet Columbus would free up some cap space.
I will also reiterate, this offer tells me the Hawks would not be done. Because the deal would create or make worse a hole on the Hawks. - John Jaeckel
Leddy or Hjalmarrson and Stalberg (elements they don't have) Kruger (possible superstar) Beach (boom or bust)?

He is an ultimate power forward if he uses his size...Can stickhandle in a phone booth and has soft hands.
Can't find that package with his size...In his prime years at 27... |

Leaking Nash news out now is suspicious if they really wanted to deal Carter.
Now Carter will be an after thought and they could be wearing him...
Nash trade talk should have been saved for the Draft. |

Given how the year has gone in Columbus, could this be their GM taking a final swing at saving his job? |
