Thats a nice line, although Sharp would do the trick. Now with what you gave up what is left? A Black Hole!!!! 20 mill on one line, one third your payroll? - hawksbuzz
Didn't see the rest of what I wrote? There are other deals to be made. |

[quote=Al]Leaking Nash news out now is suspicious if they really wanted to deal Carter.
Now Carter will be an after thought and they could be wearing him...
1. Professional courtesy. Think Nash been a consummate pro and team guy. It is clear this team needs a restart and probably long ago discussions and parameters were set, where the team would agree to move Nash. He has been a good soldier and instead of waiting for summer, and since it is a forgone conclusion he will be moved, why not bait the hook.
2. Carter will be moved as well, maybe before Nash. If they can target a number 1 goalie (Bernier) 3 or 4 NHL ready guys and 2 or 3 prospects or drafts, would go a long way in rebuilding and restarting. IMHO. |

Given how the year has gone in Columbus, could this be their GM taking a final swing at saving his job? - NewToHockey
Most think he should have been gone aleady...Wouldn't be my choice to make a trade involving the best player on the team. |

Exactly, wouldn't you think at this point many of these calls are over his head. And he is not working on his own? |

Don't misunderstand if I'm Nash and the talk is to trade Carter I'm thinking why not me first? Why would Nash want to stick around with the same MGT crew that has screwed up in many ways and hope for help to come this summer??
That said from a business stndpoint there are far few teams able to make a play for Nash now than at the Draft....And if he is dealt that takes a team out of the running for Carter....Cuz there aren't many teams able to make a deal for $5 mill or $7.8 mill players now. |

Maybe still doesn't make sense to not wait for the summer.
The Draft is the better time for blockbuster deals not now... |

Do not disagree, but if you are able to acquire what you are looking for and it is a forgone conclusion you are rebuilding...then lets get it done now.
Plus, perhaps collective bargaining progress/status may be less favorable later, thus potentially slowing the process further.
I am sure you are right in your assessment, I am just of the mind that if you have made a decision, then start down that road. |

Seasons are over. Personnel decisions have been made. You can get the full attention of all teams. You figure teams will have fired all coaches and rehired replacements, along with GMS...just more potential dance partners. |

Wouldn't the dance partners be limited to where Nash is willing to go? I don't see where that would really change between now and the summer. |

I think anything out of the CBA enhances the attractive nature of mega contracts but who knows....ie ability to later get out of them.
Nothing much that happens now a days surprises me...Especially with a franchise that has made so many mistakes in the past. |

I would love to get Saad in a pens jersey... lovejoy is a 5-6 dman where nisk is a 3-4dman.. nisk isnt that bad on the pp where lovejoy can play pk... |

Actually that list will grow too due to the off season acquisitions/free agents that other competitive teams can/will do to make space or enhance the attractiveness of the team. Keep in mind, you have to find a match, that is a team willing to give back the assets that CLB will demand. |

I doubt Pitt would trade Malkin for any player in the league except maybe Toews. - NewToHockey
Are you kidding....how that team competes w/o Crosby...Malkin is man's man!
Hawks with out Toews are an after thought sub 500 team....they have nobody to fill such a void.
Kane?? Forget about it! |

Yes, going hard to the net but don't see how they can call a penalty on Toews when it certainly appears he's being ridden into Rinne. |
