Pat Foley commented that in a conversation he had with Barry Trotz that Nashville is looking to be a spend to the cap team next year. I'm guessing Poile signs both of them. - Return of the Roar
also been said by McKenzie (one of those TSN guys)
that Weber wants to see action by management in improving the roster
Rangers spent a lot on salaries in the pre cap world and didn't get anywhere |

Losing streak: 38 GA on 257 shots = save % of .853.
If normalized to league average (92%, I think) - 21 GA = 2.3 per game.
Only allowed 28 shots per game and 4.2 goals per game.
Obviously, a shot is not a shot is not a shot - but just an average goalie performance changes a a number of games in the streak.
I think it was Second City Hockey that did a good analysis of this. |

They've got like 15MM in cap space. Even paying Weber 8MM and Suter 8MM still leaves $10MM for upgrades.

Beyond pissed at this point....F THIS TEAM!!!!!
1. For everyone waiving pom poms thinking it's going to be OK because these are professionals....please. 0-6-1. NY Rangers, arguably best team in hockey next. 0-7-1. I watched the entire Blues-Jackets game while monitoring Hawks game on 13" tv in STL, and they look good...and most importantly...RELAXED, as in nothing to lose. The Hawks don't bring their absolute BEST they are going 0-8-1.
2. Our goalies...they suck. last time a Hawks goalie outplayed the opposition and WON this team a game? how about april of 2011....Yet, our idiot GM thinks all is well.
This team just seems to be waiting for the next crap goal to break their back each game....I've been there before. Not a good feeling. Especially when you play well, and still lose.
3. It's on the players now. Is anyone in that room going ape $hit about consistently losing or calling out guys for taking the easy road> Anyone see Shaw pull up on what shoudl have been a shot block on goal 2? Guyls not clearing the crease? guys making stupid turnovers at the blue line, Toews, and costing them a goal? I thought veterans were brought in to add leadership to the room? If so, they are FAILING...like everything else on this team.
4. Our special teams suck...PP coudlnt' score against a 65 yr old no check team. Too fancy, no net presence, no point threats, same old, same old.
5. Sorry, but at this point EVERY single "star" should be held accountable. They are paid HUGE money to carry teams through crap like this. 19, 88, 10, 2, 7, 81...it's on you...Right or wrong, its on you, and while the effort is there occasionally... the results aren't. Each guy had numerous chances, and only 81 scored.
6. It's beyond insanity. What makes anyone at 1901 w madison think the results are going to be any different? We all saw the flaws back in November, but back then, you werent' getting each teams BEST every night. NOW you are... Why> because now they're pushing for a job next year, a playoff spot, etc. hawks aren't buillt to win....crap. yet, they are expecting some magical day when the worlds will come together and they'll be OK. Please. They haven't won a road game since December 14th...Think about that....
7. Lastly...it's time for a locker room shake up. Save the Hawks TV, where they jerk each other off to xmas songs, and what not. They need a message, and apparently, until then...the season will continue to piss away.
You can't sit back any longer. This team is sinking. The bulls are rising. You are facing labor uncertainty. You are looking at REFUNDING hundreds of thousands of dollars that looked like a sure thing 2-1/2 weeks ago. This is setting up for a collosal failure on so many fronts, Wirtz's head may explode after game 82, and they are sitting at home.....watching playoff hockey.
OH, and they are 5 points, Calgary has game in hand, from being in 9th...good thing we didn't bet, TrueGrit. I'd miss your posts.
Lastly...I'd trade Crawford, hammer, Bolland for Nash+d-man, checking center TONIGHT. Crawford, Hammer will NEVER haunt you. Bolland? Kruger can replace him. Move Sharp to center, and inject some life into this sack of crap team. save your picks and prospects and go get a d-man, and back up goalie.
Cheers gentlemen, I'll see you after the Rangers physically beat the hell out of them on Thursday. - SteveRain
I could BOLD THE WHOLE DAMN post!! You are right the neither Emery nor Crawford have delivered a goalie low scoring win all year!! They are always out done by the other guy: Smith, Scheider, Niemi, Quick, Howard, Rinne...
19 shots and 3 get in...with 2 from plus 50 feet. PK ok tonight and still give up 3. PP...nothing new there... |

my view: mostly bowmans fault
before the cap came and destroyed the depth on the team they could have their star big time players slump while guys like Ladd,Byfuglien,Versteeg chipped in
Now, they dont have that depth and when the core players struggle, it really affects the team in the Win-Loss column

I'm not about to say this without understanding the situation, but it's time to see Salak. I don't care how unproven he is, I couldn't in good faith send this team out on the ice again in front of one of those two goalies. They need a reason to believe they can win a hockey game. Neither Emery, nor, espsecially Crawford are going to give that, so, play Salak, or trade for a goalie yesterday. |

Oh yea and was Ellis the only Nashville player in the Hawks Zone on the go ahead goal? Tiped off Keith AGAIN. Why cant they do that in the offensive Zone. The only time they get a tip is when it goes in their OWN PHUNKING net

More goalie crap again. Just after Emery almost lets in another goal from center ice he lets in the Ellis garbage. These guys simply cant make the big save to keep their team in it. |

Now they know how Rick Nash & Co. feels with Mason in goal.
Play from behind all night against a superior defensive team with an excellent goaltender and its a recipe for disaster.
Imagine for a minute if the Hawks played on Olympic sized ice - Patrick Kane would be so far out on the perimeter he'd need binoculars to see the net. That's the 'star' who needs to be moved out. 12 Goals for the year - Bickell might catch him yet. |

Yep, and notice he threw that wrist article out there....just in case this goes bad.
This team is going DOWN. Its not IF but HOW FAR now....
Honestly, may be the best thing to happen to these arrogant bumholes. |

Toews, Kane, Sharp - seemed to play well tonite - but no points.
Toews, Kane, Hossa - 7 points (I think) in the 7 games on the trip so far, 3 goals, I think. |
