Nash would give the Hawks added physical presence below the circles and help a struggling power play—without question.
Hawks would also need to find a d-man at the very least somewhere else.
They spoke with Columbus about Nash well over a month ago, so he has definitely been on their radar as a player they covet and feel fits what they want to do, FWIW. - John Jaeckel
That is such an interesting dynamic given that it would be within the division. |

Sharp
McNeill or Saad (not both)
Clendening
#1 pick in 2012
(guess) - John Jaeckel
I would think you would have to include Frolik in there so they would moving $8.23M in acquiring Nash's $7.8M. |

I wouldn't beat up the guy too much in that regard. That has to be a tough situation to play through for that long. - Gunner Staal
same,Nash cant do it all by himself

JJ, what about including Crawford for Mason in the deal? Our struggling guy for theirs...change of scenery could be good for both goalies. |

True...playing in Columbus must be like playing in Siberia. Hawks should still be targeting defensive assets first and foremost. |

Hawks will not turn it around tonight or anytime during this road trip. They will need a spark - a big trade, a callup, a fresh goalie, a coaching change.
The spark will come - if it does they will have an excellent March and at least solidify their mid-level seeding.
I don't get why we're in on Nash. We need a bonifide stud d-man that hits. And then we need a goalie change because you can see the morale and confidence escape whenever cc lets in a bad one because he's somehow ten feet away from the side of the crease they score on. |

rumours of nash submitting a list of teams starting to surface. if nash is really on the market, that'll be the key.
teams like chicago can want nash all day.. if nash doesn't want chicago.. it doesn't matter. |

You're right unless the rest of the package is worth it. Sharp is a goal scorer but he is also 30 |

A move like this would suggest to me that they are planning for the future and not this year. I could see this Sharp + for Nash just to have further divergence from the perception of the 2010 team being Dale Tallon's team. I like Nash better than Sharp, but it doesn't fix the major problems with this team (D, PK, bottom 6 forward depth, lack of natural centers,). I just don't see the improvement this trade makes to THIS year's team. However, with Nash and the flexibility in the offseason to make more moves to fix the other issues, then next year would be very very interesting. |

Keith, Seabrook, and Hjalmarsson are a great starting point for any defense corp. I don't think they would have to get crazy to find the appropriate players to fill out that unit. |

I'd bet a pretty penny that Nash would prefer the Winged Wheel over the Grinning Chief. |

Nash would look great in a Hawks uni but I still don't think it solves their problems. While I've already read that Bolland won't land you Nash, I think he's the core guy that would move in a deal like this (not Sharp). CBJ has to rebuild, taking on a 30 year old winger with a fresh 5 year deal doesn't fit that mold. Bolland would fit that mold more along with some of the Hawks younger prospects.
If you look at the deals that Kovalchuk, Mike Richards and Hossa got traded in, it wasn't for a big name coming the other way. It was for younger guys to try and build a tream around.
Hawks end the streak tonight. 3-2, Razor comes up big. |

Don't see this deal being remotely possible unless Columbus is also including a forward (Boll, Brassard, Prospal) or a d-man (Methot, Tyutin) or perhaps a goalie (Sanford) though that seems like the least likely addition. Not sure of the cap hit on the guys mentioned, as I basically just tossed them out off the top of my head. Getting Nash would be nice, but they'd still need a bottom six forward that can play physical and maybe play on the penalty kill and a big, physical defenseman who can eat up minutes and preferably play on the penalty kill. We've gone from the Hawks not being able to take on any additional contract past these season to now possibly being in on Nash and his 7.8 million a year contract. |

he seems like a guy who's dying to get into a big hockey market. detroit would make sense, chicago wouldn't be to far fetched either. i would think vancouver or toronto would be on his list to.
love to see his list go public... as long as teams like NYR or philly are off it i'll be happy. |

I'm just glad I'm not in Nashville for this game.. hearing their "goal scoring" song, wanted me to poke my ear drums out. |

Gotta be Sharp as the "core" guy leaving.
Better get that D man (Kubina - please) or it's all for naught. Which means they have to have enough chips left to trade for one with. The D corps they have now is not going to get it done.
Still think this is a big mistake.

Leddy as our 4th has been a problem for awhile. That's what i'm talking about. And even the top 3 haven't been great lately. Defense wins games, series' and championships. And right now, we are playing CRAPPY D. |
