I wish I knew how to prevaricate!

Great word...had to look it up...it means to mislead, evade or create an incorrect impression.

Nice job wordsmith JJ.

If it's going to take something like Schneider and Hodgson I'd pass. Also moving forward, we'd have Henrik, Daniel, Nash, Luongo, Kesler taking up 30 mil in cap space.
- Nucker101

maybe not both, but i would think hodgson for sure. i can't see the jackets trading nash without getting at least one young player with franchise potential. i could see it being similiar to the deal with kovalchuk was traded, except with more 25ish youngsters that can help now.

maybe the leafs are the best fit. they've gotta be the most trigger happy. they're willing to part with schenn in the right deal.. who could end up captaining a team like columbus. they've got the young talent end of it in kadri, colbourne, franson.. etc.. that they've been rumoured to move, and the prime players in macarthur, kulemin, even grabovski or bozak that could help them now. burke wouldn't hold back parting with top end draft picks either, he's proven that.

burke's been fighting to land a big fish for years, the placement of the team, the expectations, the depth, the money.. there's a lot of things that fit with now.

Sharp
McNeill or Saad (not both)
Clendening
#1 pick in 2012

(guess)

I hate these trade speculations...but if it were to happen. Your package might be pretty close!!

After thinking about it, if JJ's source is right on with this one that the Hawks are putting a substantial offer for Nash then maybe (I might be reading in to this way too much) the Hawks are thinking that with the lack of available d-men they'd rather just bring in a big time scorer and try to win solely with two top very talented lines. Not saying I agree with it but that's what I'm thinking.

When you have some guys (forwards) out there that play nasty, hit, and aren't afraid to agitate.... The other team plays a whole lot more tentative. Now... other teams have free space. We had guys like that on every line a few years back. Need it now.. And need it even more for playoff hockey.

And this speaks to my central contention about the current Hawks' GM: He's FAILED. He said he wanted to make us 'tougher to play against'. He made some decent moves signing Jammer, Carcillo and Monty, but the moves haven't had the desired effect. It's clear: we are EASIER to play against than ever.

How's that locker room chemistry doing for the team right now. I agree Sharp is a good locker room guy, but that is secondary. If you can improve the team, then Sharp's locker room presence doesn't even factor into the equation.

Don't disagree they are missing locker room chemistry. However, I see Columbus asking for Hossa over Sharp for marketing purposes.

For me, they can have Hossa. They way he stood around the other night when Toews was getting pummeled pissed me off.

Here's my question though, do you have to go far this year? Is risking the future to try this theory that will most likely fail anyway worth it? Maybe you don't lose in the first round, but if your defense and goaltending is a question mark you aren't making it much further.
