As long as teams and the NHL continues to make money, there will be no flattening out the cap. Doing something like that would hurt more than help the NHL as would reducing it too.

Not the only variable in the equation. Some teams hemorrhage cash. Those voices, if loud enough will curtail the growth of the cap. Put another way, the formula used to calculate the cap may be altered such that the growth rate won't be as great. Also at stake could be the sill. Presently it's $16M below the cap. Will that gap widen and if so will it induce the 'inequality' thought by some, that helped drive the current CBA after the season-long lockout.

TBH I think adding Nash could do more harm than good for NYR.

Agreed. Like adding Kovi to the Devils a few years back.

You can see McDs fingerprints all over this. The Hawks have been getting killed in the press and fans are screaming for Q's head. This would be the big shakeup this team needs.

Not cheap and getting older but Tallon doesn't blush....He would be the leader and center piece of that team with Campbell...

Considering what Tallon paid for some ham and eggers...around $3 mill...$5.9 could be doable.....But he doesn't have a lot to trade in some ways.

I agree Tallon could want Sharp. But I don't see Columbus getting Sharp just hoping possibly Tallon will want him. Florida does have some serious prospects. But I think Tallon wants to keep those guys. He has a ton of cap space. I imagine what he is hoping for is having a successful year and making a run in free agency while keeping his prospects. vs dealing them for a Sharp.

There's one.. and that's the Rangers.
- ilinkhawk

Gonchar, Leino was close. There have been others. The point still remains. There is always someone sitting around looking where to get a guy. Heck Rangers could lose in the Cup final and somehow try get Sharp even though they might've gotten Nash this trade deadline and signed Parise on July 1st.

We should all know Tallon well enough to figure out that he isn't trading away his blue chip prospects.

It happens. I am not saying there is no market for Sharp. I am saying it would be rather stupid for Columbus to get him counting on getting a huge return dealing him. VS getting some high end young NHL players and prospects.

Yup. But thats why I think anything could happen. If the worst case scenario is Nash for Sharp ,(Frolik or Kruger ) , (sad or McNeil) , a #1 and a #2 (We have 3 #2 picks coming this year right ?) The Hawks would get so much good paper , also PLAY OFF Revenue , the Hawks add Nash the O and Power play gets better Kane gets better.

Another D man would be great but done say getting Nash would be bad. There is no way it would be bad.
