We don't know what the Hawks would offer back. My feeling is it will not just be prospects and lower salaried NHL guys like Stalberg or Kruger. It will include significant salary. - John Jaeckel
Eklund kiss of death ? No other "hockey" guys reporting a Nash deal. JJ , anything else from last nights Organizational meeting ? |

Would be seriously surprised if that's even close to true. Duthie just said on TSN that NYR were told Dubinsky+Kreider+1st wasn't enough. Maybe just me, but Bernier+ garbage seems like a lesser package than that. |

To me I'm not even sold on Bernier, let alone two guys are regulars in the press box.
Maybe I'm wrong maybe LA traded something to Edmonton to get our 1st overall pick and that is going to CBJ too. |

All I've heard in over a week is the thing this afternoon that the Hawks are preparing a serious offer for Nash.
That, to me, would indicate he has the Hawks on the list of teams he allegedly gave Howson. Others I would guess are NYR, the Kings, maybe Toronto.
Logic would tell you the Hawks are at a disadvantage because they are in Columbus' division. L.A. would have an advantage because they can offer Bernier. Hawks might have an advantage in terms of prospect depth and what they can offer there, especially at D and C.
All I know.
I would think Howson is on a career suicide mission if he took the alleged package from L.A., unless L.A. agreed to take another bad contract off his hands. Like Mason. |

LA loading up on salary. Can they even do that deal if their cap space is 100K? |

I think that deal is for Jeff Carter. If Columbus were to do that then they must be pushing to fold. |

If DL does that he really deserves to get fired. What GM acquires the two players that were considered "problems in the dressing room" on another team? |

My understanding is the Hawks were prepared to offer, or offered:
NHL players, AHL player, 1 top prospect
for
Nash
and another NHL player
I know the names, can't share. Better offer than L.A.'s, IMO |

On Cap Geek I just did ,
Nash , D Man , for Sharp , Frolik , Pirri , Morin , McNeil , and a #1 pick. The deal works out financially. Prospects are just prospects people... get the Super star if you can. Is it true that Sharp only has a Cap hit of 3.9 m this year ?

"Nash will turn 28 in late June, which shouldn’t be a deterrent. But his contract should look about as tempting as Snookie to Hawks GM Stan Bowman. He has a $7.8M cap hit until the end of the 2017-18 season and his contract includes a no-movement clause from 2010-11 through 2014-15 and a no-trade clause from 2015-18.
In the final year of his contract, Nash will be 33 years old, making $8.2M, and has the right to veto any trade.
Does that sound like a deal you want on the books in Chicago?" [BR]
Teams will get into a bidding war for Nash and he should fetch a pretty heafty package. This is the perfect time to let the league know that Sharp could also be available. Sharp's point totals and goal production have been going up in the past few years while Nash's have been going down. Add to this Nash makes 7.8mill for 6 more years. Sharp makes 5.9mill for 5 more years. That is a difference of almost 2 mill a season. Bowman should be looking to take advantage of this opportunity, other GM's would look at Sharp as a better option with production and cap numbers favoring Sharp. Even if Nash were to go first it would set the value for Sharp. If Nash were to go to a contender other teams would feel the need to counter the move. Either way a Sharp trade could fill a few holes in our lineup. Another positive is that a team trading for Sharp would also have the option to trade Sharp in the off season before his no trade kicks in, if they so chose. |

Looks like the case for why it's better to keep Sharp than trade him for Nash. Hold the chips and wait for next year. Save the $18 mill in salary and contract differential and invest it in defense.
