All we need to do is build a better d we have the 2nd best offense in the league and one of the youngest too. If we build a better d we could shatter records I think which is not gonna happen this year maybe not even next year if we can draft some dmen studs in the next 2 drafts and maybe sign suter this off season. When you're making shot attempts, that means you have the puck -- when Lilja's on the ice, the team is more likely to be without it, most likely stuck in their own zone vs third-tier attackers, chasing the play. To put it in perspective, the next lowest CorsiRel out of the regulars on the blueline is MAB w/ a -4.

There are 4 other players plus a Goalie on the ice. Because the Flyers are never hemmed in their own zone for extended shifts when Lilja isn't in the lineup.

Of course he's at the bottom of the depth chart. That's what he was brought here to be. A depth defenseman. That's the whole point of signing a 36 year old player to a 700K deal, to be a part time 6/7 D man. to have a veteran that you can put in the lineup that won't hurt you and provide as you put it, adequate play.
