where is Blair Betts? Time for him to take off the coaching uniform and start logging some time on the PK. |

I'd rather overpay for a 4th line center than an enforcer. - JoeRussomanno
Right now Couturier is the 4th line center, he's done a very good job in that role. |

How do these people get jobs as sports writers? Trading our two guys with NMC's for Nash? Jagr is untouchable in a trade for Nash? The best defense is a good offense (as if our offense sucks). You guys will be rolling reading this |

Didnt you read Bill's blog? If we get those guys in a few weeks people are gonna female dog about how they suck too. It's true and he should have probably included how people started turning on Desjardins too before his time was up. After reading what bill wrote about Grossman I am not sure I want him or Gill that badly.
The position that can easily and inexpensively be addressed that is a pressing need is the lack of a shutdown 3/4thline center. It's going unnoticed by the fanbase but I'm sure the people who actually make the decisions see that. You fix that one little spot on this team and i think things start looking better for our dmen. We made it to a SCF's with Cobie, Timmonen and Carle. What happened? They didn't start becoming poop defensemen all of a sudden. Other pieces are missing namely the shutdown center on the 3/4thline and mans the PK.
The PK is awful right now. - JoeRussomanno
I think you're leaving out another guy on the backend. Pronger, was it? |

The bonus with Shelley is the Flyers have his 1.1M handy if needed. - stveshdy
Yes. Not sure they will need it this year, but it will come in handy in building the roster next year. |

I'm just not comfortable with 2 rookie defenseman going into the playoffs. While Gill and Grossman can't replaec Pronger, they would fill a needed role on this team... Someone that can clear the traffic in front of the net.
And If you got Visnovsky, that is your Power-Play point fix.
If my wish list were to come true it would be JVR and a 2nd, for Schenn and a first. Then get Gill for like a 3rd and 4th. Then you will still have room to add an defensive center.
Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
Read-Briere-Voracek
Schenn-Couturier-Simmonds
Talbot-"Defensive Center"-Rinaldo
Timonen-Coburn
Carle-Gill
Schenn-Meszaros
Bryzgalov
Bob
Draft Picks
Toronto 1
Philly 1
Kings 2
Panthers 2
Sharks 3

I wouldn't pay him that to be a 3rd line Center either. We already have Giroux, Couturier, Briere, Schenn, and Talbot who are all Centers. I'd be looking for a veteran 4th line Center, who can play on the PK for around the 1M range. - MJL
Talbot and Schenn can be wingers and Talbot is probably better equipped to be a winger just like Briere is more a center.
We have a guy making 1.1 in the pressbox why are you so against a guy who would actually make a difference on a regular basis making maybe a little more than he's worth? |

You don't think Briere and Bryzgalov two players in their 30's would be willing to waive their NMC to go rebuild in Columbus?
If you handed a laptop to a chimp, there would be a more credible story than this. |

He would be better utilized in a higher line. If people are so worried about rookie defensemen they'd better be worried about a 19 y/o kid centering an undervalued line in the playoffs. That and we need another pker besides talbot. |

Couturier will not be a 4th line center when his EL contract is up. You can find another player other than Gaustad that does the same for less money, imo. - stveshdy
Two come to mind.
Boyd Gordon, Yokes. He a center, makes 1.325 mil. 7G, 13A, with a +12. ATOI is 16:00. And is 56.6% on FO's.
And to a much lesser degree, there's David Steckel, TO. Center, makes 1.1 mil. Weaker offensively. 7g, 1A, and a -5. But also has a 58.1 FO% but only 12:38 ATOI. Big at 6'5" 218lbs. |

They can be Wingers, but either would be a better 3rd line Center then Gaustad. Where are you getting it that I'm against that? What I'm against is Gaustad as a 3rd line Center with the current makeup of the team, and for what he makes. It's not the right fit on this team.
And if your suggesting waiving Shelley and using his 1.1M to add a 4th line checking Center, I'm all for that. |

He's not a paid writer for them. Anyone can write there but you have to pass a screening process. Which doesn't explain how that guy is able to write either. FYI posting the link on a website like this only drives traffic to the article which in the minds of the higher ups is all they care about. |

Unfortunately injuries have forced Couturier to play with some players who lack talent. Nothing can be done about that. Hopefully when JVR gets back, it will lengthen the lineup and the Flyers can put a player with more ability on Couturier's wing. |

"Case in point, during a Sunday afternoon commute I tuned into the local sports radio station—94.1 WIP.
During that show I personally heard a caller go off about how Bryzgalov blew the game against the Rangers Saturday and elaborated on his $81 million contract. Hopefully I don't have to explain what's wrong with that sentiment.
The host did correct the caller on the salary (his contract is $51 million) but failed to correct him about Bryzgalov not even being in net Saturday due to the Flu."
LOL I heard this call and was laughing my A off. |

No doubt but we still need a real 4th line center. Fix that and I think a lot of our problems go away. I know it seems simple but when Betts was healthy our Pk was a lot stronger and our Dmen looked better. Pronger had a lot to do with it but Betts was a big reason too. |

I'm glad I don't live in the WIP range, callers who call into WFAN in NYC, aren't even that bad.
Unless it's Yankees fans, who call in and demand an all-star at every position. Their fans are the most delusional clowns on the planet. |

A solid 4th line checking center, who is good on faceoffs would be a very welcomed addition. |

At the time of composing said work of literature I wasn't 100% sure and I know hes been in the field for a very long time so rather than drag his name through the mud even though i'm apalled at he oversight I felt compelled to leave the name out. |

He is, but makes a little too much for a fourth line center. |
