Nash... but thats another story... - geta02it
who's got a cap hit 3M higher and is a winger, and is older than Carter. |

You're right he isn't. But 27 years old, 4 straight seasons of 29 plus goals, include one 40 plus goal season, 6'4, and has had some great seasons on the PK....pretty solid on defense, you can't really do too much better than that can you? - mykokes
In 10 years, Carter's $5.2 million cap hit will be the equivalent of approximately a $3.8 million dollar cap hit today (at 3% average annual inflation).
That about what Stajan makes, for comparison's sake. |

I would trade for both carter and nash because according to kipper if you payed top dollar for nash clb will throw carter in for next to nothing and if the leafs got both they would no longer be a rebuilding team. - jimib

You dudes need to do something soon, Living in Windsor I hear alot about the Leafs and would think of it as a shame if you didn't make the playoffs, I know people fall in love with the talent or whatever in the organization but you guys have nothing worth keeping so everyone short of Grabo, Kessel,Lupul and Bozak should be available |

Give me 10 d-men you'd take over Phaneuf...go - mykokes

Even Bozak and Grabo should be available if a true #1 centre with size is available.
I may get flamed for this, too, but I think we should *consider* selling high on Lupul. |

Is that you, Georges Laraque?
I've heard this rumor before, and quite frankly, I don't think the stats bare it out. |

clb doesn't have kessel and lupul, there best defenceman is the wiz and their goalie tandem (as hard as it is to believe) is worse then ours.

Flyer fans are worse than leaf fans when it comes to riding their own players.
Plus the whole bad apple thing tends to be brought up way too much. I know of a certain west coast player who parties pretty hard with the ladies and some other stuff, yet fans of that team seem to think he's a salt of the earth type of a guy.
Hell, if we went on reputation, why the heck did we bother bringing dougie gilmour to town? - mykokes
well Gilmour was found innocent, put up 100 pts in a season and scored a cup winning goal... thats the guy your defending Carter with? |

if the leafs fall out of contention thats something they should consider big time... but thats a double edged sword...
1: brian burke likes lupul, the only reason he traded him was to get pronger.. burke always tried to get him back somehwere along the line (once in anaheim and then again in toronto) so you gotta ask if burke really wants to move him again
2: what message does that send kessel? next year will be the 4th year of a 5 year contract.. put him on a poope line again and maybe he doesnt re-up with the buds?
just a couple thoughts is all. |

I think we should sell high on kessel as much as I hate those SI polls kessel some games is scared of going in the corners and when you get paid millions of dollars and are a pro you cant be scared of going into the corners.

No, I was referring to the Gilmour who walked out on his team because he wanted out, the Gilmour who was called a locker room cancer. And yes, the media did call him that when the trade was made. |

Burke is keeping Lupul for the same reason he got brought in to Anaheim the second time, to solidify the top 6. he will eventually move to the second line when the Leafs are strong enough to do so, Nash makes that happen.

thing is, the closer the trade deadline gets, the odds of the leafs making a trade for someone like nash get worse.. because other gms will make offers that burke wont match or beat |
