Bruins are finally getting hit with the injury bug. Horton is already out with what looks like post concussion syndrome, and now Rich Peverley has been sent back to Boston after a collision with Hal Gill last night. Early speculation is an acl injury.

True. That's more Damon Stoudemire's role on a team. |

How did trading Carter and Richards make this year's team better? Or do those trades fall more into the thought that they had more to off-ice matters? - bradleyc4
As fans we are spoiled. We have a team that goes all in all the time versus tankign a few seasons so they can draft the next great kid. I know I didn't expect them to come out of the gate as good as they did... I never expected them to play that many rookies either because they never did that consistently.
Now they have hit the wall in the way they are playing and it's only February. Still a lot of hockey to be played.
If they get healthy and play a little bit more consistent, you never know what can happen...just make it in and go from there. |

JVR, Cooter....it was nice to know yeh - Just5
There is "playing for this year", and there is being "incredibly shortsighted and stupid."
I hope that they at least tweak this "philosophy" and realize that sometimes it is better to hold on to what you have rather than throw it all away for a chance now.
If they traded JVR for a good young d-man like Schenn and maybe another player I would be ok. But if they get rid of Couturier for any reason I will not be happy. |

I don't hope for injuries, but I kinda expect the bug will soon bite the Rangers as well. |

In addition, the Flyers have an organizational philosophy -- which I respect -- of not trying to wait for that "special future year" that may never come. They believe in trying to take their best shot every year. Apart from the playoff revenue considerations, Snider has a competitive streak a mile wide (as does Luukko) and can't abide the thought of throwing in the towel on a season, especially when the team is already of playoff caliber.
Whether folks like it or not, always playing for "this year" is how the Flyers operate, and that's not about to change anytime soon. - bmeltzer
I love everything about that. Always trying to win no matter what. |

Even in years past, when they have moved young players at the TDL, there haven't been many that developed into great players. The one that hurts is Justin Williams, and had they kept Markov for more than a couple months that wouldn't hurt as badly. |

I don't like to see guys injured significantly. Some groin pulls and such wouldn't hurt though. |

BTW I will Cry because I drive a turbo charged car that MUST have premium gas, and gets about 12 miles to the gallon... I think I might seriously consider getting another car. - RooNosHockey
I couldnt believe it when i watched the video on gas prices the other day...Guess making millions isnt enough, they need to make billions...Wall street doesnt help matter either where they drive the cost of Oil up... |

Yep. That's why I fully expect us to supplement the current roster for a run. I don't think they will sell the farm, but they will get a dman and maybe even a forward. Snider et all will probably look at where Boston came from to win the cup last year, and expect that a couple moves in tinkering may get it done.
I still say we'd be in a very good place to compete with the big dogs in the conference if Pronger hadn't gotten hurt. - Hextall271
If pronger hadnt gotten hurt id go as far as to say we would be in first. |

Homer isnt stupid. What in Homer's past makes you think he is just going to give away player like JVR? I mean we didnt trade carter or jvr or Giroux or richards at the deadline for anything... even when Vokoun was being dangled... |

The difference this time is that I think we do have a good amount of players who are going to develop in to great players. I would rather keep them. And build through FA. |

True, but I doubt we see JvR or Couturier or Schenn moved for a rental. They move a kid like that, it's for a guy who will be playing here for years. |
