He's OK defensively. Kubina is often feistier than Gill, but the rules and speed of the game have really taken away from most big, slow defensemen's ability to be physical in the clear-the-porch and rattle-the-boards sense. He has a big shot from the point but is not a QB type that you want handling the puck a lot.

You don't play 950+ NHL games if you are a horrible player.
