The outlandish trade proposals don't really bother me. It's all in fun, no harm in that. It's the incessant arguing and trying to force an opinion down another posters throat that has no place.

I just think when said outlandish proposals are broken down.... I'm a leave it at that.

Im really surprised that no trades have taken place this close to the deadline. Lots of rumors but nothing to break the ice yet.

Too many teams don't know yet whether they are sellers or buyers. Once they throw in the towel or decide to go for it, we'll see movement.

I'm thinking teams are in a bidding war over some players and that is clogging up the trade traffic. Once a piece moves or becomes way too obvious they aren't then we might see an eruption of trades.

Oilers have acquired D Bryan Rodney from the Ducks in exchange for C Ryan O’Marra.

Once the first domino falls, it will cause a flurry of activity I think.

Yep. Right now I would think if a team is within 10 points of a playoff spot they still think they have a punchers chance.

Using that formula, the only sellers right now would be Carolina, Edmonton, and Columbus.

Columbus is so out of it they're trading office furniture and lighting fixtures.

I've made mention of this fact in the past. Targeting defenseman in the first round of the draft is foolish. Always take the highest rated player on your board, with heavy emphasis on forwards.

- bradleyc4

But then no one wants to move those forwards for the right defenseman, because we like all our guys better than theirs.

I generally agree with this assessment of developing the defense though

- mydoglicks

LoL.. I'm sure he answered it with a question like... Why would Anaheim trade Ryan? or What are you giong to have to give up for Ryan?" or "How is Carle not the best defenseman in the league?"

That is true. I guess things will change in the next 11 days before the deadline hits.

Absolutely, by the deadline teams will have another 4-5 games off the schedule, if they are 10 points back then with around 20 games left then things will change.

I agree. I think Homer is waiting to see where Nash lands, to see if the other team will take a JVR trade.

I hope in the mean time he doesnt let a Kubina or Visnovsky slip through his fingers...

That's about right. It's a dream scenario for the NHL, having so many teams "in it" this late in the season.

Are we going to retire numbers 25 and 17 after this season?
