I read a report that Yzerman won't play Kubina until a deal is done. Can he do that? I would think the NHLPA would have something to say about it especially if he has bonus clauses in his contract. |

Blackhawks making a big push to get Kubina per my sources in Chicago. I have direct ties to ESPN Chicago and just talked to my boy who covers the hawks for for them from big apple. draft pick and player for Kubina being discussed. |

While Seguin is certainly going to be an excellent player. Kessel is top 5 in league scoring...3rd over all in goals and looks like Kessel could one day reach 50 goal plateau...so that argument is starting to be moot.
Now show me where Burke didn't 'fleece' his counterparts in previous dealings:
1. Kaberle for Colborne + 1st and 2nd
2. White, Stajan, Hagman + Pucks for Phaneuf and Aulie
3. Beauchemin for Gardiner and Lupul
4. Brett Lebda and F Robert Slaney for Lombardi and Franson
5. Toskala + Blake for Giguere
Your move... - Asparatrout
#1... good move...
#2.. Phaneuf has been good but he is not the same as he was..
#3.. I hope Burke bought them breakfast after that franking the night before
#4.. Lombardi and Franson... they haven't been rockstars.. YET
#5.. Giguere did nothing while in Toronto and then they let him go..

i second this, although i see the ennis experiment working out. - LizzyJo
I like his play there as well. He has definitely looked good and it's unfortunate the points have not come (I largely blame stafford for that), but i think it's because he's played center a lot more than winger. I'm pretty sure he played it in juniors and in the AHL, and his only year at winger was last year. So he's more of a center that was forced to play winger. Lindy just didn't trust him to play center before. |

McKenzie said that Gardiner would be the D they ask for not Schenn - wolfos412
Considering that Liles has resigned, I might not be that upset with this.
Also, can we then pretend that we traded Beauchemin for Lupul and Nash?? |

Told Ryan Miller has not been approached by anyone in the organizaton regarding a trade #Sabres
Just thought I'd show everyone the rest of the tweets from today.. .you know.. just so that you didn't post what you wanted people to see. - MillerTime3011
ummm, first, take Millers sabre out your mouth for just one second and show me where I said anything other than "people close to miller are saying he would accept a trade to chicago"
I never said he was going or that a trade was happening big fella. You told me to STFU that miller said he would never want to be traded. I then showed you a tweet that suggested otherwise.
I mean your avatar and name clearly show your bias and why you would be upset at the fact that he MIGHT possibly be on the move at some point in the next few days, or in the offseason, but you can't let your emotion cloud your jusdgement when the facts are in front of you. |

Considering the two players we traded to Nashville went straight to the AHL I think it was a pretty good trade. |

Its a tweet from a radio announcer.... Unless it is a tweet from someone within the organization or Ryan Miller himself.. it is just hear/say.. sorry.
No pissing contests today.. Leafs fans telling Sabres fans what their players are saying/feeling/want is like a kid in a wheelchair giving running lessons to olympic athletes..

I personally would like to see Kassian at center in the future... he was centering Vanek and Pommer earlier this year.. but they were so bad I didn't watch the games that closely/often back then..
But I agree that I think the whole converting players is not the Sabres fortay.. especially in the middle of the season... - MillerTime3011
No Kassian was never centering that line. That never happened. If they wanted Kassian on that line Pominville would move to center. |

I really want to read what you wrote but I just wanted to double check if I could get the Coles Notes version first.
So here is the issue: We need to send some salary back or we are screwed (just stating the obvious). Let's build up the Nash Trade situation here.
Komi won't go back (NMC that DEFINATELY is NOT waived to go to CLB)
Lombo won't go back (Uninsurable and CLB cannot afford the risk)
There is no way that Burke trades Grabo for Salary, so the only way he goes is bcause he is an integral part of the deal, not a throw in.
So that leaves Connolly or Armstrong.
If Grabovski is part of the deal (which I assume he would have to be) Connolly needs to stay as the 2nd line centre. So he won't be included. I guess that leaves Armstrong.
Personally I am OK with this, as he has been injury prone and hasn't regained his form really. Considering the $3.0 cap hit, he is expendable if need be.
So that starts the deal with Grabo + Army.
They'll need the piece on defence, so let's throw Schenn in there, as I'm sure they will ask for him.
So the question is what is left for Nash? We have $9.5M going back, which more than covers Nash's Salary, but I would assume that CBJ is going to want sme salary coming back for a UFA in order to cover this. This would indicate either Huselius or Pahlsson on their way to Toronto. Burke has a History with Pahlsson, and considering he is a Centre, I could see them targetting him as Grabo's replacement for the rest of the year, releasing him at the end, and replacing his roster spot with Colborne next year.
So we have:
Grabo (2.9) + Schenn (3.6) + Army (3.0) for Nash (7.8) + Pahlsson (2.65)
We are still missing a piece or two on the Leafs. CLB needs goaltending, but there is no way they target Reimer or Gusty as Burke values them too much for what they CURRENTLY bring. So they will need to look to dealCarter for a goalie with some other team.
So lets throw in our 1st this year. Seems logical with the Jackets looking for a rebuild, but being in the 15th overall are is not too highly valued, so we need another piece.
I cannot see Kadri or Kuli being added as the last piece if we already gave up our first (Burke wouldn't do it, I have a feeling). So unless we dropped the pick back to a 2nd and added one of those, we'd have to look at something else.
My guess? One of Holzer or Blacker. Cheap prospects with some nice potential.
So the two possibilites as I see it are:
1) Grabo + Schenn + Army + Blacker/Holzer + 2012 1st for Nash + Pahlsson
or
2) Grabo + Schenn + Army + Kadri/Kuli + 2012 2nd for Nash + Pahlsson
Personally I see #1 as the more likely option that Burke would go with.
Problem is that there are other teams involved, and I think that it would take Kadri/Kuli and a 1st (rather than a 2nd) to land Nash.
I think this is too much. Are there any Leaf fans that actually would still do it? - mfreedman

#2.. Phaneuf has been good but he is not the same as he was..
Yes, but Stajan, and Hagman have been far worse. We won, but not by as much as we could have
#3.. I hope Burke bought them breakfast after that franking the night before
He bought Steak and Eggs, for the next month
#4.. Lombardi and Franson... they haven't been rockstars.. YET
Franson has been great! Lombo is what he is. Then again Lebda is a career 7th d-man/AHLer and Slaney is a career AHLer. Nuff said
#5.. Giguere did nothing while in Toronto and then they let him go..
Even trade, no one helped either team really. Blake is a plug, but if he brings something decent back at this deadline, ANA won the trade.
