Richards came into the league and played with a distinct style that made the fans love him. He was mean, threw huge hits, played his heart out every shift.. And he did that up until about 2 seasons ago. He seemed to become deflated. I was the biggest Richie fan. Hell I still think he is a heck of a player, but anyone who hasnt noticed a distinct change in him as a player isnt being honest with themselves.

That's how I feel as well. At no point did I mean to insinuate that I think Richie is a bad player. Imho, somethings happened to him along the way. He really looks disinterested. I wonder, and it's purely speculative, if the other nuances of playing in the NHL have caused him to lose interest. He seemed like a guy that would just shut up and play and now the media, events, fans, expectations etc. seemed maybe to have worn him down. - Flyers1218
I do recognize his disappearance in last years playoffs. If he has indeed (and he has according to his numbers) fallen off, it has to be a motivational lack of passion. It's just a shame to see because his work ethic and heart epitomized what it is to be a Flyer, or a Philly player in any sport. It's just a shame. But kudos to Homer for perhaps recognizing it and getting to great guys in return. |

I was worried that he had just burned out from the constant harangues of the Philly press, but after being a firey guy for the first few weeks as a King, he's dropped off a bit. Last night he did go after big Hanzal after a non called interference, so maybe angry Richie is coming back. |

It's funny how people who think they watch some games they know hockey and how it works. They don't get positioning, dump and chase, cycle or even just the basic fundamentals. He's the guy in the stands yelling SHOOT on the power play when the lanes are all filled. |

Right, although sometimes I really wish they would shoot (ahem... G). Look what happened when they stopped being cute and threw the puck at the net? They let night train take care of the rest. |

EDIT: My wife and I were at a game together last season when another fan kept yelling, "SKATE!" So, we joined him during the third period, except she yelled, "SWIM!" and I yelled, "BURROW!" |

Of course you can, but only if you are willing to strike the coup de grace. |
