i thought geoffrion was suppose to be pretty good but im no scout - Slammed81
No, you're right. He's also the grandson of the Hab legend himself. The pressure is on for that kid. |

Bill, Do you have any inkling what it will take to re sign Grossman?
Any rumors as to what Dallas was offering that was turned down? - Marc D
Considering the UFA market tends to overpay for defensemen and quite a few teams had interest in Grossman along with the Flyers, I think his next contract will be north of $3M per season. Perhaps about $3.25 M in a two-year or three-year deal, at which point he'd be a 29-year-old or 30-year-old UFA in line for another contract if he stays healthy.
Understand, I'm not saying that's what the player is necessarily worth. But defensemen are an expensive commodity both on the trade and FA markets.

2nd rounder and Geoffrion is a mighty fine deal. Blake won the Hobey Baker award a year ago. - LordStanley88
He is a good prospect, but he's been up and down as a pro. I know Nashville was really high on him a short while ago. |

Geoffrion and Slaney, I know nothing about these two players. - Marc D
Blake Geoffrion is a former Hobey Baker Award winner, but has struggled in the pros. Has needed to adapt to more of a defensive role.
The other guy is a nobody. |

Understood, thanks.
Matt Carle is probably looking at $5+M for a 4-5 year deal coming.
The defenseman who can play these days are going to be rich. |

True, but he did score 6 goals in 20 games at the end of last season. We'll see how this all plays out, but the Habs have done of fine job drafting in the 2nd round lately so I like this for them. |

With Rinne, Nashville is looking very formidable defensivelly.
Will have trouble scoring, but they gave the Canucks all they could handle last season.
I like the Preds. |

I think the Pens would have made an offer for Gill too, at least. |

Yeah, it's not a bad deal for the Habs at all. Geoffrion's whole family played for the Habs it seems. Great Grandfather was Howie Morenz, HHOFer, then grandfather was Boom Boom Geoffrion, and his dad also played for Habs. |

I think that Harry Z was in Lava's doghouse for his careless play against Nashville that led to the only goal against. |

Hal Gill to the Preds - bradleyc4
Great! One less potential mine for Holmer to put his foot on as he crosses the DMZ between today and the TDL!
The Grossman deal works for me. If they can get a guy like Allen for a fair price and maybe pick up a guy like Gaustad, without losing much from the roster I'd be just peachy. I'm not interested in JVR for Schenn. That deal isn't necessary this season. |

So do I. I see no other reason that he didn't get recalled, unless the are showcasing Wellwood as a piece of a trade. |
