Time and polish seem the main sticking points. If they get another vet on D, MAB will be gone. Cheaaaa - bigmookalookie
I would prefer the Flyers add another dman. |

Honestly, I have no clue what his status is.
Is he even close to returning?
I would love to see the Flyers pick up a center who wins face-offs. Like 58%+ faceoff win percentage.
I don't know if there is a guy like that avail - ggunky
Well Gaustad is up there and his name has been tossed around. He is at least 55%. Saw the number recently. Whether he is available....

Not officially, but one would assume it's the logical move being he's out up to 2 months. - PLindbergh31
I think they only officially do it when it becomes necessary. |

I think if they can somehow add another veteran defenseman this team will be in a prime position to make a nice run in the playoffs. The more you can sure up the backend the better off they will be. The forwards need to help out more (which everyone knows) but I would feel better having one more defenseman.
If the Flyers cant find a way to address that then I would settle for a forward who can help defensively, face-offs, and PK. |

Sorry if this was already talked about but why do all the beat guys think Sestito went out w/a hand injury? To me it was clear that as twisted down to the ice at the end of the fight he landed awkwardly on his lower half. Looked like knee or a groin to me. |

groin issue is the latest comment I read
Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
INJURY UPDATE: #Flyers Tom Sestito will have surgery to repair torn groin muscle on Tue., Feb. 21. He will be out for 6-8 weeks. |

Fully agree. One more solid D man will be huge. Hopefully it happens. Homer will do whats best though. I have full faith in him, also glad Gill got dealt to a team in teh western conf. Glad he didnt go to either the Pens or the B's |

David Poile said Grossman deal acted as catalyst to breaking trade gridlock. "It does work like dominoes."

I really hate that guy but honestly if he was on the flyers I would actually learn to like him. Great pickup for the Sharks. He is a solid addition to any bottome six forward on any team. |

On a sidenote the Coyotes Mike Smith is absolutely sensational again last night. Back to back shutouts and 24 wins already despite missint almost three weeks with an injury. What is it about the Yotes and successful goaltending. Smitty is in a dogfight with the Wizard Ray Whitney for team MVP. Vrbata has 27 goals, yikes, thanks in a way to the Wizard. Makes me wonder how Smith would have played in Philly??? |

I was talking with the wife about him last night after we watched the Phoenix game. He's a goaltender that I always liked and wouldn't have minded in orange and black but for one reason or another (injuries, etc.) couldn't put a solid run together. The Flyers wouldn't have taken a flyer on him because they wanted a sure thing, which we know now, Bryz hasn't necessarily been. I'm happy he's doing well in Phoenix. Hopefully he can stay healthy. |

Totally agree and he will be the first goalie to score a goal this year. He has come so close lately once missing by about a foot on one. He shoots the puck as well as anyone in the league including RDP and Marty. He is finally realizing his potential and I also think Tippet is the best coach in the NHL as he seems to get the best out of everyone. |

On an aside but related: I personally don't buy the argument that the PHX system made Bryz a rich man. Bryz has struggled in all aspects of his game (rebound control, moving laterally, tracking the puck) and especially on the PK which PHX doesn't have the magic receipt for. His 5-5 has been worse and that is where the "system" theory would play in and I think it has. But it has not been the one and only reason. It is just an off year for the big guy. Plain and simple in my mind. |
