Looking at the highlights, it just looked like the horrid goaltending was the problem in this one. When you get that bad of goaltending, your team loses confidence. - Richieattack18
The goaltending today was not very good and those goals should of been stopped by Bryzgalov today (no excuses). The team wins together and loses together. You dont throw a teammate under the bus, you pick him up and get his back. Everyone knows he didnt play well but hes our option at this point. |

True, but those goals don't happen if the forwards don't allow SH attempts. Softg goals doomed this game indeed. But like I said, Bryz usually strings together 3 or more strong games after poop storms like today. |

That one that got by Kimmo and he just looked like he skated as slower than Shelley... Yeah I think that is Kimmos fault - Richieattack18
You'd think that after Giroux did the blind turnaround turnover to the middle for the odd man rush that the rest of them might forego that move. But for the rest of the game it was like they couldn't help themselves. Someone put a whole load of stupid in their water bottles.

Feb. 16 Think the Flyers are done upgrading the blueline after trading for Nicklas Grossman? Perhaps not according to Darren Dreger: "Flyers may not be done working on their blueline. Would like to add 1 more and will look all options (Schenn or Johnson)."
The rumors are going to get crazy over the next week. Looking to add a defenseman, goalie, and Nash...
What else do they want? Some of these rumors are crazy. |

I really wonder what they are talking to Columbus about.
Nash makes no sense.
Is there a blue liner there that they are interested in?
Tyutin maybe? |

YOu know what I want? I want the guys they have to play sixty minutes of hockey no matter the opponent, no matter the game time. And then we'll see how the goalies do.

Coming to Philly as a goalie is a like coming to a gun fight w bubblegum!! Do the hard thing!! Support the goalies you might b surprised. |

I thought Engelland's hit on G in the first really shook him up, Giroux was really off his game today. |

You have the right to your opinion but I still think Bryzgalov gives you the best chance to win with what you currently have on your roster. He has to play much better (that is obvious). - stveshdy
I'm concerned with the guys playing in front of him. If they have zero confidence in him or have no idea what to expect then everything unravels. |

The goals he lets in just totally deflate the team. Why is it that we are the only team that can never have solid goaltending on a consistent basis? |

I thought it was a disgrace.
Calls were worse for the Penguins, but still a disgrace. |

It sure feels like that. Very frustrating. It's getting harder and harder to believe Bryz will ever play well again. |

It's hard to blame this one on anyone other than the goalies. You can't expect the team to keep the opposition to 3 shots/game. The goalie needs to play all 60 minutes too. |

If the Flyers are looking at this team as a team that is developing, Nash does make sense. You are putting together a one-two punch of Nash/Giroux for the next 6 years minimum. Pricy, absolutely. But if they are looking at the long term of this team, having Nash/Giroux for that long is a tremendous thing to continue to build from. Obviously, depends on what we are giving up.
I kind of feel like Columbus is coming to the Flyers offering Nash because they like our crop of young players. (Schenn, Couturier, JvR) They could EASILY be using the Flyers to drive the price up for Nash on the market.
I mean if you ship JvR+ out for Nash and you are sitting with Giroux, Nash, Schenn, Couturier, Read as your offensive core for the next 5+ years... your offense is in some really good shape.
From there, you are in a position to build up your defense adding to Coburn, Meszaros and possibly Kimmo if he is still around.
When it comes to acquiring a guy like Nash with a contract like he has, it isn't just about needs right this minute. |

What decision? Bob has been just as bad since the ASB. If he was outdueling Bryz it would be an easy decision but I dont see the upgrade if Bob is in net. You have to keep playing Bryzgalov imo. - stveshdy
Bob's stats have been horrible since the Allstar break, that is true, but aside from today's game Bob has not been letting in many soft goals at all. I think the Rangers scored 3 or so goals against the other day because the defense was leaving the backdoor man wide open for the slam dunk. Hell, one of Bob's goals against today was off a rebound after Timmonen put a SOG against his own tender. Bryz's goals allowed, for the most part, tend to be of the very stoppable kind.
Unless the 5 guys on the ice in front of the goalies start playing better, it isn't going to matter who is in goal but if you ask me who let's in the weakest goals consistantly, it's Bryz. |

Bob is a career backup.
The Flyers need to continue to start Illya and just cross their fingers and hope he turns it around. Unless they are going to acquire a goalie, that is the only option they have. |

Even with Timonen getting a game misconduct, Staal's boarding call should be 4 maybe 5 minutes. Who cares if Staal felt sorry for Coburn after the fact. I've watched Denis Gauthier level Kyle Wellwood behind the net, stopped to say he's sorry just as quickly and still get thrown out of the game. In fact, I think Gauthier was suspended too.
Here's my point of view. The Refs have too much control in a game. If you aren't going to call everything within the rules that these penalties should be called, that Ref should be punished. It's a joke that there is no clear cut rules. Some refs let things go, "Let them play". That's okay within reason. The Pens should have paid the price right then and there instead of "make up calls".
Too much opinion out there. |
