At this point, I figure they need to just ride Bryzgalov. If Bob was playing like he was earlier in the season, then there'd be a viable option. But he's been for poop since the break.
You brought in Bryz to be the man, play him until his balls drop off or he gets himself fixed. - Jsaquella
You just know Laviolette is going to start Bobrovsky in Winnipeg Tuesday. |

Im with you. F the world and play some hockey. Do what you do and forget about everything else. The Flyers have to ride Bryz for a long stretch here and see what happens. |

As crazy as this sounds, I would call Garth Snow and see what it takes to get Nabakov. His cap hit will fit. - PLindbergh31
And you would need lots of "lube" for Garth's price, think he doesn't see what's going on, do not think he would be in a hurry to "vault us" higher in the standings |

It's possible, and it'd be another head scratcher.
What does it serve now? This is where you have to sink or swim with the number one guy. If you can't figure that out as a coach, maybe you shouldn't be coaching.
Stats wise, Bryz and Bob are identical now. No more of this "Bob's playing better" stuff.

The cupboard was pretty barren anyhow. That second rounder might not even have been a factor this year. Florida has to decide by the morning of day two of the 2012 draft if they want to keep this year's pick or keep 2013's.
The second part is what worries me. Both guys were brutal today. No way to sugar coat it. - Jsaquella
One of the next move has to be for a goalie (Nabakov?). Why give away a nice part of your future for a pair of D rentals when the bigger question mark is in net?
When your goaltenders are letting in lob shots from the top of the circle, and kicking it in their own net, I can't see how a temporary upgrade on D will be beneficial in ether the short or the long run. |

Right now there isn't a better option. So Bryzgalov should start basically by default. I was discussing with TMan before that if the number of soft goals were cut in half, it will go a long way in curing the defensive shortcomings. |

I'd rather get Bernier from desperate dean in LA.
one thing we know for sure is that we have vet depth on d and even in the press box, where lilja comports himself w/ veteran flair. imagine handling that many boxes of popcorn and containers of soda in one trip- wow-wow-WOW! |

My bet is Howson is making it look like Philly is involved so he can get more out of the Rags, who are probably the only team in the Nash gig in the East. Homer gladly plays along so he can make sure Sather pays top dollar. - flyguy12
I've had that thought, too. Wouldn't mind it a bit if that were the case.

Nabokov would be a nice addition but the cost may be high. I would be willing to trade with the Islanders to get him. Does he automatically become your starter? |

Wouldn't hurt to ask. Snow runs the risk of losing Nabakov and getting nothing in return. Islanders aren't making the playoffs this year, and Nabby is a UFA at the end of the season. |

Problem with that is you guys who say this stuff make it sound like the goalies do this everygame. They don't. They had a bad game today. Any other goalie will come in here and have them. |

I honestly believe with slightly above average goaltending, they would be right there with the Rangers and Wings. The fact they are still 4th in the Conference by in large with the worst goaltending in the NHL is frankly stunning. |

It absolutely would, no question about it.
Trading for Nabokov now could have serious ramifications on the next 9 years. Bringing in a new starter now...you'd better pray that there's an amnesty buyout and that Snider is cool with writing a $41mm check to kick a guy to the curb |

yup
wouldn't hurt to ask, but I have to think with the way things are, thats a $$$$$ price
as long as Snider isn't calling it like he did when we signed the current guy $$$$$$ |

Not sure what Berniers price tag would be. Could be steep for a guy that is still unproven. |

Then what do you do for the next 8 years with Bryzgalov? Tossing in the towel on him after 40 games one year into a 9 year deal could have serious ramifications with his head, as well as enticing another goalie to come in later. |

Gaborik, Richards Lundqvist Nash = $29 million?

Well giving Nabakov a look doesn't mean they would have to commit to him beyond this year. Bring him in, see how he does, if he stands on his head then a tough decision has to be made. Can't give up on Bryzgalov after 35 starts when he has a pretty good resume, but realistically it's become worrisome. |

I think that he could be headed to Columbus, LA doesn't need both he & Quick & Bernier is a serious trump card that Columbus would want |
